Cheaper price?
« on: July 07, 2014, 06:14:03 pm »
This is from a custard been on the books 4 years, 3 bedder. Upmarket part of town - £20.00 incl conservatory.

Hi Matt, just paid latest invoice for windows cleaned dated 2nd July. We would like to cancel your services from this date, we're going to try another cleaner who uses the squidgies, just to see how the finish compares more than anything, no reflection on your service. Thanks for your service to date and all the best.

Yes. I really couldn't be arsed to enquire as it doesn't equate to me so I figured I'm not going to get the truth. I asked who they were, that's all,  as they hadn't said.

Had one very similar last week. Done them for years, went 8 weekly due to the recession etc  ::)roll I pulled up on the drive and out he comes. Here we go me thinks, it's not today time. He said his Mrs had booked another windy as she didn't like the brush thing. Well I had been WFPing it for ages and why cancel now. I wished him good luck with the trad guy (sarcastically) as they have veluxes and very tall landing windows, I also thanked him for letting me know of the cancellation. I won't be going back there when the new fella packs up. It was a nice earner, but good riddance to em! I don't want to turn up at jobs feeling like it could be the last time, I want decent customers who respect me, what I do, my reliability and honesty.

We look at them, they look through them.

I know getting dumped is not a nice feeling but why do so many on here take it personally.
Its business nothing more nothing less.
If someone who has been on your books for years cancels then its because they can no longer afford
your services.
If they where the type to go with an under cutter at the drop of a hat then they wouldn't have been a long
term customer in the first place.
Wish them all the best and leave the door open should their finances improve and want to return.

You're spot on Sean.

I smiled to myself today. Tart saunters up to me 'ow much?'
I looked at the house and said £20.
She wanted to save a quid or so and said 'the other guy only charges a fiver'
Good for him says I  and i turned round and continued to clean.
Made me chuckle though.
These lads seem like nice guys, we always nod at each other exchange greetings infrequently.
But a fiver ::)roll!
They are trad lads-do 3 storeys trad. Got some bottle.

I reckon so. Lost a few here and there recently, I've been of the opinion that there's someone undercutting.

Who's taking it personally? It's just not nice as you say. It just didn't seem to add up to me, perhaps they want a proportion of their windows left up cleaned, who knows, some clarity or other similar experiences may have shed some light on it.

Some of the best customers you'll get are ones who mistakenly cancelled you then rehired you. Lesson learned.

So they waited for you to turn up before cancelling with no notice?  It does happen but it's way out of order.  It bugs me more that they give no warning; they can easily phone you or email or something.

It's out of order no I think it's a disgrace. Talk about loyalty. We are trying to run a business !!! How would they like it turning up for work the boss walks up to them and say sorry your fired we got another person in to do your job ?

They should say look I know you've been cleaning our windows for some time but we have had other windows come in abit cheaper and with the price of things going up would there be anychance of coming to some sort of arrangement to put it down slightly then yes that would be fine. But to turn up and they say leave erm got another windy sod em and I wouldn't take erm back either.

It's called loyalty as you turn up on a regular bases do a good job and are an honest person. I know it's up to the customer to pick and choose but most don't realise we're running a business they think we clean them for pocket money and sign on that's how our perception is seen to some people

Is it just me or are they not giving the reason already?

They are mentioning quality.

Wether that's the truth or not suppose we won't really know, but they are saying they want to see how the finish compares?
