Remote Controls for portable machine
« on: July 02, 2014, 10:13:55 pm »
Hi guys,

Any one out there found a decent remote control for your portable extraction machine?

Since getting enforcer and using the ones supplied its revolutionized the time we are on jobs, especially with long hose
runs etc.

But they don't seem to last very long.

The ones supplied with enforcer (available on amazon) all died through over heating, 3 more different ones i got from Amazon stopped,
and currently working our way through the second box of 3 Siemens ones bought from B&Q when on offer for 19.98. They are the best yet, but still go hay-wire
sometimes and stop.

I know there are electrical and electronic issues (using in conjunction with high power electrical motors not recommended) going on in the background here, but hence the question.

I wished they'd make a remote control for a Titan 875, especially when working 16 decks up the side of a cruise ship. It's a good job it pretty much looks after itself.  :o

I dont know either remote , buts its likely the Ashbys machine draws more current per cord than the storm and is probably near the working limits for these remotes .

I use something that is called a finger. It is attached to my hand which is attached to my body which is attached to my legs which I use to manoeuvre my finger to the switch which turns our machines on and off. Old fashioned I know, but I find it works a treat and the finger has never let me down yet!

Great Picture Simon.

Yes John I agree that could be it.

Yeah i rang Ashby's about the fact that all remotes died, and i'm afraid the response i got was that's why we give you 3 of them.
I actually went to the trouble of posting one back to them, before being told this. Which is not true anyway - because 3 always come together.

I made my own.
A plastic enclosure box.
A 30a relay.
A socket and short bit of cable with a plug.
A wireless switch kit from Maplin.
The kit is rated at 2 a hence the relay.
It worked for years with no trouble. Replace battery in handset, main unit runs off the mains supply.
Perhaps I should start making them.
God must love stupid people---He made so many.

If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

Just put a valve on your solution hose to change tools

I think the main purpose of it with the Enforcer and Airflex is to knock the machine off so the check valve opens on the end of your waste gate and water empties .

thats the point - change tools, auto empty time etc - to be honest valves on solution line are quite annoying. And hoses are annoying enough as it is. Once you try one (remote) you wont be without it hence original query.

Is there a soft/slow start module with the Enforcer , is that external like the remote or built in ?
