Looks like barclays are going to be charging 35p for every online transaction now.

So if customer pays online 35p! Customer pays via go cardless 35p!

More banks are set to follow so Barclays have said.

I would say this will at least double my charges !

Here is it!

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-2541790/Barclays-hits-250-000-firms-shock-fees-Tarnished-bank-faces-fury-forces-customers-accounts.html

I had the letter in Jan asking me to switch! I said no! Now in August i get switched over!

35p an online transaction is a joke.

I had this with Nat West a few years back and so my charges are now fixed per month, whatever the type or number of transactions I carry out..

go on the e- payment plan  this includes free online payments, set up a savings account in the company name, pay all cheques  cash in to the savings account, which has NO  charges, then transfer  free from savings account back into current account

Barclays estimate on my last years payment my charges will be £1500 a year, the above way will be about £100

The idea is to stop taking cheques, and card payments only as well.

Thank You!!!

Its a rip off. Why charge? First time I was self employed I had a business account. Second time, standard. Pay in cash or cheque. If you use bacs etc thats  different. If you all collected cash, what would happen?

I've got a Barclays business account.
Cash goes into my HSBC personal account, then BACS'd across.
Cheques go in my free Santander business account, then BACS'd across
DD, SO etc goes straight in/out of Barclays.
What's the monthly charge? £6 or something... Happy days

A sole trader does not need to have a business account. It is not a legal requirement.
