Got a real dirty Belgian Wilton to clean in a Pub soon, i have always used Solutions Fusion Clean for low moisture in the past which is great on not so heavily soiled carpets but falls short on the the more heavily soiled ones, so i was thinking of using something different.

I'm looking for different opinions on the above products, also would Fusion Clean mixed with some Chemspec heavy duty soil lifter be a good approach

Depends how dirty it is. Doesn't sound like an LM job to me. If you're trying to avoid shrinkage on the Belgian Wilton by using LM you may increase the chances of it by having to keep making more and more passes to get a result.

Try energiser to boost rather than HDSL if you decide to stick with the fusion clean.

Hot shockwave 25 min dwell, rotary followed by extraction with inline heater and it was a belgian

the trouble is leaving it dwell in the carprt, if its left to penetrate the backing you will get shrinkage

very true if it sinks in you in trouble

Cleaned one Saturday with 15 minute dwell and no problem....you would really have to soak them to shrink them methinks.

I have never had any problems with shrinkage but thinking about belgium wiltons reminds me of training at ashbys some time back, Derek Ashby said that wiltons are unlikely to shrink as the pile is so tightly packed in the backing, its axminsters which can be a problem. Any form of cleaning though that over wets to that degree though surely cant be right..

Polypropylene Wilton if not fitted correctly can shrink just by looking at it with a glass eye so I think he may have got that one wrong.

The water doesn't get absorbed by the fibre ie unlike wool.
In a man made Wilton the solution runs down the fibers reaching the cotton backing that's what makes it srink !

Not all BW's have cotton wefts. Some modern ones are PP and therefore less risky. They still have jute though..

Any case i have no axe to grind, over wetting any carpet isnt a good idea.

Jamie is spot on with the polypropylene warps I just wouldn't like to test to see if it shrinks.
