stupid oil/machine question
« on: June 16, 2014, 09:52:13 am »
I've attached a picture, can I just clarify on the machine there are two places where it looks like oil will need to be topped up, is this correct. Only asking cause I thought there was only one place the oil would go and that would be the engine but like I say it looks like there are 2 places to top oil up. No laughing if this is the best stupid question. Thanks.

The circle yellow one (center of photo) is oil for the high pressure pump. The red one is gearbox oil and the yellow one you can just see to the left of the red one in the photo will be engine oil.

You will need a different oil for each.

Engine oil for whatever engine you have. I can't see what it is.

Gearbox oil something like - Interpump X-80 Gearbox Oil or equivalent.

and high pressure pump - Interpump SAE 30 Pump Oil or equivalent.

Again sorry for another stupid question but may as well keep them all in one thread, the yellow one ie pressure pump the level is fine, the red one ie gearbox oil is very low but there was not a dip stick for this one so I used the one from the pressure pump ie yellow one is that ok? The engine oil seems ok. Thanks again.

As for the dipstick i don't know. Only suggestion is find out how much it should hold and drain it filling with that amount. I wouldn't guesstimate it.

Kevin their should be a clear oil inspection cap on the side of the gearbox, this will show how much oil should go in.

I have a window in my 'Interpump' pump, it's very obvious, if your not seeing one then you don't have one. As for gearbox, I've not heard of an inspection window being in one. I could be wrong.

You are going to have to either contact who made the gearbox, or read/find the manual and see what they say to put in it.

You could also tell us the machine specs and someone might have the same kit to tell you.

Haha are you joking kevin  ;D .....the clear cap with the green ring around it!? That is clear, you know when you are at the correct level when you can see the oil rise half way up that cap. Same goes for the back of the pump (its dirty in your pics), that is also the same clear cap.

I hope you understand that as i cant explain it any clearer, you lobby gobblers aren't the smartest are you  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Danny and andy for your input to my stupid question lol. I have now topped topped the gearbox oil up and now know how to quickly see what level the gearbox and pump are at thanks to Danny explaining about the clear windows lol. Andy cheers for the link to the oils got the gear oil from half ores this morning as my gearbox level was empty. Just want to add guys always ask stupid questions regardless how stupid because without it I would be using my pressure washer without no oil in the gearbox. Cheers again
