first quote for job
« on: June 15, 2014, 03:47:30 pm »
Hi Guys,

I have just started up a pressure washing service and been to look at my first potential job this morning.

My questions is from the photos attached:

1: a rough cost to do the job?
2. would you use a fsc or turbo nozzle or both?
3. any chemicals to clean the spots off?

any other advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Luke

About £80 mate. No more than hour to do(us). Flat surface clean, rinse and turbo edges and joints etc then a bit of hypo to uniform clean the paving eliminating the stripes from the FSC, which can't be prevented.

thanks for your reply very helpful.

Some of the slabs are not very level...do you think fsc (i have an 18" whirlaway on castors) will be able to do it?

also where can I get hypo from?

Cheers

They're good surface cleaners mate, good rotary heads. Will be good for it but what machine do you have?

I don't know anyone local to you for hypo. Sodium Hypochlorite Solution 14% you want.

Many use Walker Brothers in Bury Greater Manchester 5 miles from me whom I put many on to. It's £12+VAT for 25L.
Not sure they will send the one though. They use Clarkes for courier.
It can be bought from ebay too.

I'll see what they say re hypo... Thanks for the  advice

Pretty much the same as blast away on price/time

But I would turbo nozzle the lot ( no other reason that you get a great finish and I don't have all the fancy FSC's Lee has  ;D )

They will look terrific when done

thanks Darran, would you use chemicals as well to get rid of the spots on the slabs? if so do you guys spray it on with a pressure sprayer or something?

Yes hypo,  I would sprayer ( hand pumped backpack ) on for that area, sometimes I use a watering can.

Yeah, you're looking at around an hour.
Turbo it clean and rinse down with a lance.
Use chemicals as needed after.

Sorry to hi Jack your thread VClean but Lee (Blastway) looking for some guidance when using hypo please.

Once you have cleaned the slabs and given the slabs a spray with Hypo do you then leave this to work for 20mins and rinse off or just leave it once sprayed? I have sprayed before then rinsed after, worried someone would walk over it when wet and walk into house destroying the hall carpet or something! Any guidance you can give would be appreciated, thanks.

Also I cleaned a mono block drive about two weeks ago which had a lot of grass growing between the gaps in the blocks, some gaps were big right enough as the bricks were laid in a circular pattern working out from a centre stone (also laid on a previous lawn so not sure if the ground was prepared correctly). Anyway went I went to resand the drive yesterday there was one bit which already had signs of grass regrowth!! Do you think it would have been best to have treated the entire drive with hypo post clean to kill off any remaining growth??

Cheers, looking to ensure I can do the best possible job and if that means educating myself about hypo and asking these types of questions (ones which the experienced guys might seem silly) then I'm happy to do this and greatly for all help/guidance.

Don't forget to tell them to clear the patio of all objects so you can clean the area without having to shift all those pots etc. if they want you to move them all then charge an extra half an hours rate. The amount of jobs we have been too and they haven't moved any tables, pots, barbecues etc. we now state they must clear the area or we charge extra for time and our backs.  Most will clear the area to save money. Nothing worse than having to move loads of stuff.it your job to clean the flags, not move all the junk. You learn from experience. Good luck

Hypo 1-3 and increase if needed. Use it fresh for best results although it's debatable if it matters.
I use a bucket and brush it on. Lots of people use a watering can.

I clean the area first and then hypo any black spots, pack what I don't need away to give it a dwell then finish up by pressure washing it away.

It will kill plants and grass so when you wash away just put plenty of water down to dilute it, it's always better if it's raining. It will also ruin your cloths so wear soft shell or similar. Gloves essential.

Don't use near a pond.

I'm in Mexico and replying to this makes me a loser but it is 5.30am :(
