Rust responds to mild acid but so does sandstone so id test a very diluted acid.

Think you may struggle tho

Ferrous sulphate is used to kill moss in lawns. You can usually smell "rust". As roger says there seems to be too much "spotting " . Furniture staining usually as rings or long lines.
H2C2O4 will remove it...test a sample somewhere out of the way.

I've seen similar before from a mate who installed some wrought iron gates at a house and had to grind away to modify. The little shards of steel later developed rust. He asked me if I could remove it but I never attempted to. No expert when it comes to rust, although I've used oxalic mixed with hot water and that worked well on concrete. You need to do a lot of rinsing with it.

The Ox may/should get it, failing that Tensid,s Limestone remover will.
Problem you can have if they are grass seed stains is how long have they been there? the longer they have been on the surface, the tougher they are to remove, what ever you use do a test first.

Depending on the extent of the problem...I would put some warm, not hot water into a cup size container. Then add the acid till it's at the point of saturation....stirring continuously.

Then split into two containers and add  the same  amount of water to one(strictly speaking you should add acid to water and NOT the otherway round as i have suggested)...you then have a 50% strength solution. You should then split this again to 25% ,and again.....and again

Take your weakest solution to your "test" area. apply with a small brush. The amount of "dwell "time will be determined by the stain and substrate.(porous areas should be dampened first to prevent the solution being "sucked in") . If this works wash the area well and allow to dry....check for any staining/bleaching of the area.

If it doesn't work go stronger and follow the process again. Bering in mind it might need several applications of the solution to get the desired results..... results should be gradual with each application not instant.

If you are having problems with run off .... add some wallpaper paste to the mix.
Do not allow to come into contact with grass or plants ...do not allow to enter rain water grids.
Wear gloves and eye protection!

I am  a muppet  so although I make referral to % of solutions this in no way is a scientific calculation far from it...a chemist would laugh at me!!! It's the only way i know to explain the process.
Although it is supplied in crystal form ...you cannot smoke or snort  it   ;D.

I cannot believe you are suggesting that we use  acid  on Indian sandstone whilst also eroding the surface away  :o :o

Chris

I will go along with your little game buddy but try and understand this is why you need to do a course mate.  :D

1.   There is a difference between Yorkstone and Indian Sandstone.
2.   Yorkstone is a lot tougher.
3.  The product I recommended is a different type of acid to any Lithofin product (Which I assume is what you are referring to in your mates post ;D) in that it is buffered and specifically mixed with a cleaner and is designed for this problem.  I have explained this to you once before by the way!!!!
3.  You still need a brush and honing powder  by the way.

Course is on 9th July and costs £395 + VAT and you get £300 of that back in products but I have no doubt you will be busy with a couple of ladyboys somewhere ;D ;D ;D

Don't know what an "oxythingy" is but the pictures are of  "indian sandstone" .
Your product is acid  (several types) and according to yourself "never the twain should meet".
