Water Fed Pole System
« on: March 30, 2006, 08:23:59 pm »
Evening shiners,
I have finally given in to new technology and decided that it is about time to invest in a WFP system.
Can anyone give me a bit of inside info as to whether they are really as good as they say, maximum height, best type of machine and of course the prices.

Cheers Darren

They are as good as they say , you can go 60 foot as far as i am aware , it all hinges on how much you want to spend , i spent about £1600 and put one together myself , thats all thats needed , system , 3 poles , and a bag of resin , im DI only , so if you need to go RO aswell your looking at a bit more , tops of £300 if you get a merlin , little less if you go for RO~MAN  .

Think they're an excellent bit of kit.

Depending what sort of work you need it for, and like Rich said it depends if you need an RO system but you could probably set yourself up for a minimum of £500

Only need the tank and resin bottle chap got everything else.

It depends on what he wants.

I only got my backpack for doing the tops but got lazy and started doing everything with it within a few days.

When i got that i also bought a RO- man 50gpd, 18ft pole, 6 containers and a water butt  all for just over £400

I got one of the Freedom Trollies now which you can leave in the van and run a tank from it.

Rich

My TDS from tap is 36 - 38 ;D ;D ;D

I don't really need an RO but i haven't changed the resin for 7 months and it's still giving me 000.

Not sure what the waste to pure ratio is but it gives me around 200litres a day.

It was ideal when i 1st got it for what i planned, but now i have taken on bigger work i think it might work out cheaper getting a DI bottle and a tank for the van than getting a bigger RO.

I should be down Plymouth around 12ish if you decide not to work again till 2.30pm  ;D ;D ;D

So if i want to get about 400 L a day i will need a 100 GPD is that right ?

Does your TDS go up in the summer ?
At the moment my TDS is 46 but in the summer it is 102 !

Hey , if it rains tomorrow call me and i'll come and spend some money with you , i need a new scrim !  TIMES IS HARD  ;D

Last summer it was 36 - 38

Last time i checked it from tap was January and it was giving me the same reading.
Unless i have a problem with my metre.

Alot of my water comes from Dartmoor which i thought yours would do.

If they are giving Free scrim away when you spend over a certain amount i will let you have it mate ;D ;D

My water comes from burrator res i think , i do a lot of work in Ivybridge and i have customers who let me fill up there if i need to , they must have the same source as you cos last summer mine was 102 and theirs was 43 !
Thing is i run all my water through resin at home at a slow rate into my ibc , that way its pure even before it hits the van mount , it then gets polished again by the van di , i do this cos the resin lasts twice as long if it has a slow flow of water constantly through it , dont ask me why or how cos i dont have a clue !
Back to the TDS level , i was told here that when raw water is warmer it holds more solids , that would explain the summer/winter readings .

Checked water from tap today and gave me reading of 38tds.

Tested some rainwater that has been sat in a bucket for quite some time and had god nows what floating in it and it was 25tds
