Thanks - I was reading up on Hypo - Looks like it might damage plants / grass in certain situations?

Do you just leave the black spots and explain to the customer?

Hypo was here before pressure washers mate, your question should have been, 'what did everyone do before pressure washers?'

Andy :)

hypo is commonly used because its cheap and very effective , just use a small sprayer to treat the spotted areas and you wont do damage . if you are spraying near flowers just pre wet the lawn or flowers and treat then after your finished give it another rinse , once you see how easy it is youll be hooked  ;D

Yeah we just say you need chlorine to get it out. We don't need the hassle and we haven't lost any work from not removing lichen so there's no need for us to bother starting using hypo.  We would charge a lot more for cleaning with hypo as it takes longer plus the hypo used. We have not needed hypo for 20 years so unless something changes we will stay environment friendly. But that's just us I suppose.

DS, do you have a solar powered washer ? ride a trade bike to the jobs, use water from a local stream rather than water pumped from a treatment farm that adds all manor of chemicals. Get off your eco bs high horse - the couple of litres of hypo is only the tip of the iceberg of the energy and chemicals used on every job  ::)roll

Lol we hate the smell. It gets on our chests like the fumes from the machine.  Will be dead by 60.   :o

Hi Mitch,

I still run a window cleaning business - You must be thinking of someone else.

The customer seems happy - But I think I'll use Hypo from now on.

The patio is part of a larger job... I've got a small path and a swimming pool area to finish off tomorrow.

Andy  ;)

I've got my boy from Crosby. I used him to clean it. He needs beating with a stick every now and then but he does eventually get on with it.

you couldnt use a turbo nozzle to clean that could you,    you need a surface cleaner.  id dread small patios if i need to use a turbo nozzle, or would you just use a different nozzle of the five.
