Try a search on "fine" or "prosecution" or if you suffer from insomnia you could trawl through this . . . http://www.hse.gov.uk/prosecutions/
You're a Scottish window-cleaner? Licensed or not, get yourself along to www.slwcn.org right now !

Thanks David, but i'm sure there was one where both the contractor and the building owner have been prosecuted.

I think someone was going to use it on an explaination letter, or somthing of the sort.

By the way I cant find them either. :(

Hotel prosecuted after window cleaner falls
The Savoy Hotel, owned by the Savoy Group was fined £6000 plus £16000 in costs after a window cleaner fell 40 feet. The Hotel pleaded guilty to charges under the ‘Health & Safety at Work’ and the ‘Management of Health & Safety at Work’ regulations for failing to manage risks to its window-cleaning contractors.

£3500 fine & £3500 costs (approx) if I remember rightly very soon after WAHD became law.

The Bear,

The quote used in my commerical canvass letter was taken from an article in the October 2001 edition but there  is also another article in the January 2002 edition of window talk .

Here it is.  If you want me to post the full article on the Savoy just let me know and I will dig it out for you.

It has been said - LOL  ;)

Hope it helps and you get something from it.  A few have so fingers crossed.

I do repeat mailshots to the same companies twice and have just re-done it with the Epsom quote ready to send out to the first batch I sent last October.  You never know eh !!

Hi everyone,

David is correct in saying the article that appeared in the PWC Mag, has nothing to do with any window cleaner being prosecuted. It was in fact a roofing company.

The PWC Mag used the prosecution as probably a scare tactic, but like all publications, it failed to print the main fact.... It was a roofing company.

I am sure you can all make up reasons why they used the angle they did, so I will leave that one up to you.

Many Thanks

Andrew
