CCTV survey set up
« on: May 18, 2014, 06:24:24 pm »
Lee K(Y) or Carl

(Or anyone else who might know)

Dragged out the CCTV survey system on Saturday to check it over.

Got no power to the unit, checked the plug - all good, checked the cable - all good but it just won't switch on.

7.5 amp fuse in the back but it looks fine. Scratching head a little bit here.

I've emailed SXP or whatever the company is called who now own Pearpoint and am waiting for a response.

I could really do with a manual for the system but cannot find one online - any ideas?

Is there anyone who services these?

I use Uk systems (camscan)  in Bingham. They will service any unit and have always been more than helpfull - they send the courier to collect and usually get the units back out the same day.

It depends on whats wrong with it but they are most reasonable especially when you compare they against the likes of Scamprobe

I have a gatorcam that's in for repair at the minute, although the guy has had it for over a month now so I wouldn't recommend him  >:( He is based in Eccles / Manchester and also hasn't even given me a price yet, I may use the company carl recommended in future

If it was me though I would  probably go at it with a ampometer and test the switch as they can corrode / oxidise up over time through lack of use... I would recommend doing that though as the, cameras can be very finniky things

Carl/Lee

Shouldn't bother with the Camscan guys.

Told him what I had, what it wasn't doing and his attitude was - 'we won't touch it if it isn't one of our systems'

What a strange way of doing business!

Any other suggestions, or am I putting the wrong search term in - Drain CCTV unit repairs

All change

SPX won't look at the unit as it is too old.

Sorry but I'm surprised by their attitude, I bought my system from them and have always had a really good service from them. I have also seen scanprobe units there when I visited. OK what about these lot - I've never used them but they are rumoured to good and apparently the lady that answers the phone has a pulse

Looking at drain runs

Been collected today by the couriers, reckon a week to look at it and then it should be on its way back

I'm just getting it ready. They did tell me that they were stacked out and it would be that long. SPX phoned me back this morning to apologise and to see whether they could help me out.

Thanks but no thanks, you're initial response has cost you any potential sales in the future.
