Introductory letter
« on: May 11, 2014, 05:50:58 pm »
I'm based in Germany, and need a big push this year as we're losing a big chunk of our market in the next couple of years. We do quite a lot of EOT cleans (carpets) when soldiers are posted back to UK etc. That's getting more scarce now that the last areas of Brit Army are closing down.
This means I have to spread further into the German market. Not a problem, as I'm married to a German and also speak the language myself, as I've been here as a civvie since 85. (ex army)

I need some help and examples of an introductory letter to "letting" firms. I've been part time in the carpet cleaning game for years, but I'm not a big mover and shaker. My wife handles nearly all of that side of our business, and I concentrate on running the window licking side of things.

Anyway, I'd very much like to get some examples from you guys, and would be grateful for your help. (Except Hectoid, as he's a bit of a berk  :D ). Also, any ideas I may have not thought of regarding what sort of businesses to approach would be very helpful.
My e-mail addy is cozyxxx@hotmail.com

Thanks in advance.

Because I get my best advice here. The CC market in UK is years ahead of German companies. Everything to do with cleaning here, gets bunged into bigger firms of "Contract cleaners". They don't have the knowledge and special knowledge that you in UK have.

Also, firms here would watch eachother crash and burn before helping. That's the way it is here.

Dear Hans,

I am writing to introduce my company; Carpet cleaning to the gentry Ltd.

We are an Englischer firm that specialises in carpets but have a special affinity for Germany. Indeed my old pater used to make a flying visit to Berlin regularly in 1944/5 and carpet bomb it most nights.

However we are sure that like us you would rather let bygones be bygones as we march (with shoe protectors over our linimented jackboots of course) shoulder to shoulder in Europe against the Russians like you did in WW2. (Although they marched back in again didn't they?)

Another area in which we have similarities is like our MEP Nigel Farage I am married to a German girl - yes, I have come over here and taken one of your wimmen. Did I also mention that my workers tunelessly whistle "Two world wars and a world cup too!"?

We do three grades of service:

The Heydrich - where we clean up any stains left on your floor by the shrapnel and blood from the bomb thrown at your apartment.

The Himmler -  where we clean up any stains left on your cream carpet by anyone being sick over the cyanide pill they swallowed.

The Hitler - where we clean up any stains left by your marrying Eva Braun then shooting yourself.

Don't mention the war; I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.

Hope that helps,

Gold
(An even bigger berk than Hector)
