guaranteed no cup of tea
« on: May 05, 2014, 06:06:07 am »
I've been cleaning carpets for a very long time and one thing has remained constant throughout all this time is one fact.If I turn up at the customers house and there are obvious signs that the people are staunch church goers ie religious posters on the walls, crucifixes and bibles or religious books on the bookshelf then I NEVER GET A CUP OF TEA! Sometimes they will constantly point out to me that they are  "christians" then allow me to work in their home, on a hot summers day for six hours, without ever offering any sort of refreshment.
Has anyone else noticed this sort of behaviour?

I find those that erm, shall we say, dont have the cleanest of houses offer me copious amounts of refreshment which I find ever increasingly daft excuses not to except.......I hate to think of the state of the cups when they they live in an unclean house!

I have never noticed that sort of behaviour from "Christians"

It's very rare I don't get offered a drink and when it happens its usually from "posh"  people who think they above making tradesmen a drink.

dont ever refuse the first offer - even if its when you have just got there and you only had one 10 mins ago before you left - you wont get offered another one - its as though you have given them rights not to offer again!!   ???

Only trouble if it was a nation of Jews & Muslims, would that we would all go bust because they are so tight.
I know it's not the done thing to put people in to stereotypes but I have found most stereotypes to be true!  :-X

One of the first things a veteran carpet cleaner taught me was never refuse the first cuppa, even if you vac it up cos it's minging. Shows that the customer is comfortable with you and you with them. Goes a long way .

I do work for a lot of Jewish people and they always get the tea out and usually home baked stuff it's very sugary and fattening though!

Takes the edge of it when they give you the bill though.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

This old Indian lady, must have been at least 150, comes in room- Tea? English or Indian?
Indian complete with spices. Great. Then keema curry with chapattis for lunch with the family.
No wonder I'm a curryholic.
God must love stupid people---He made so many.
