i have used tfr,  ubix and good old fairy liquid plus  caravan cleaner from time to time. What do you find is best for removing the stubborn black marks?

anyone used hypo on them ?

Stick with the aforementioned. Spraying Hypo in the air is asking for trouble.

Hypo, waterfed pole, easy.

2 litres to say 18 litres water, bit of amine oxide surfactant. This is how we do from a pure freedom trolley. Then give them a rinse off with just the trigger, squirts out and reaches 5 meters.

Lee put me on to amine it's good stuff. Makes hypo go further I think and 'stick to a surface better'.

We just get it from the local supplier we go to. 5lts goes a long way.

Walker brothers in Bury, Greater Manchester. £2 a litre.

I give Mark Walker a bo**ocking today. He's been saying to people "why do you want amine, just buy thick bleach" Thick bleach is very little hypo and not the same to spread as hypo with amine. Amine doesn't weaken the hypo. You could have 10 litres of hypo to 1 litre water and 300ml of amine, as long as you have that bit of water and your pre wet surface it will lather/spume and it's great for seeing where you've been. He doesn't understand from mine or those whom use this combination's perspective use on a daily basis. He knows how to make it better than we do, but I/we know what and how to use it better than he does.
We bucket and brush the mix either on vertical's or flats. Whatever the surface it spreads better therefore using less hypo(more for other jobs or areas).
He's also been telling people and telling me I'm doing it wrong saying I/we should put down the hypo first and not last.
It depends on the surface, the majority of surfaces the hypo goes down last, eliminating any spots that the pressure doesn't touch.
Also you leather particular surfaces with hypo then try seeing where your scating in the process a shiit load of mix uncontrollably heading towards grass, soil and flower beds.

I mix amine in our HF acid mixes. 60% HF drums go a long way adding water and amine compared to the weak mixes I've bought in the past for £50-70 per 25L.
That's all them guys are doing and adding a colour dye to make it look special.

I actually remember mark telling me all of this about a year ago when i first went there, what you have just said then is virtually word for word what he said to me. Must have been playing on his mind for a while

hf acid?

be extremely careful with that poop. we used it in a chemical process i used to work on. dangerouse stuff. we were wellies,  chem suit, gauntlets, respirator n  hood. It destroys the calcium in the body. Ened up in hospital with a few burns from it n once i got kept in over weekend for a burn on ankle.

You sure you mean HF= Hydrofluoric acid? not one for the faint hearted to use mate.
We use it, but only when needed.
No disrespect but most reading this wouldn't have a clue what it is and may mistake it for hydrochloric acid to totally different things.

Yeh Hydroflouric, been using it for years for this type of brick cleaning removing carbon etc.

Boss used to buy 63% drums on pallets. we used to mix it up on site, pour it in  a bucket, fill with water. got burnt a few times, got it under my fingernail and had to get the nail removed. Nasty stuff, but we were pretty lax about it to be honest. bit silly now i look back. no goggles or anything.

Matt how did you apply that mate? I need to do it on the back of my own house so any info would help.

We used to apply it with a big wooden block brush. Carefull though, the brush can flick it everywhere. Like everyone says, full ppe and make sure you have really good rubber gloves. Preferably gauntlets. And safety glasses.

do not get any on glas as it etches it.  if lef ton glass it can eat through it. we use dit in the manufacture of tv tubes. it was used to etch a fine layer of glass n have panels  cleaned prior to chemicals going on.


itis the most dangerous chemical i have worked with. i also worked in a tannery  n there was some  nasty stuff in there.

anyone  planning on using hf acid be very aware with what you are dealing with. this is one serious chemical. in the booth  we used the hf acid it had a  floor that was constantly  getting fresh water pumped into it and drained away to dilute any overflow or spills from production. i have saw screwdriver being eaten away over the course of a week.

i am COSHH trained and also  fully certified with IOSH & NEBOSH.

DO NOT MESS ABOUT WITH HF  IF YOU ARE NOT CLUED UP.

it can cause heart attacks and all manner of problems. you may get burned n think nothing of it.  it can then soak inro  body and  eat  its way back out. You should apply calcium gluconate gel to burn area and seek medical adivce. Due to the burn on my ankle n leg i was  took to one hospital n then transferred toa burns unit and monitored over a weekend. I thought burn was fairly small but  in ratio to my body it was considered pretty bad.
