Derek, get yourself a copy of malwarebytes anti malware software, there's a free version and it gets rid of any nasties that get past normal anti virus software.

I run McAfee on my sons laptop, he's always downloading mods for his games, it kept going to a weird search engine and popups hidden in text. Malwarebytes got rid of 19 unwanted programs   :)

i don't normally get problems with pop ups, thought it was a genuine survey from CIU, I did the survey and it said cos ive completed the survey i could buy a 9 inch tablet for £1, so just closed it down cos i'm not that stupid.

Ps.. i don't go on dirty sites, is that what causes popups carpetcleaner? you seem to have knowledge of this. ;D

Derek, on a serious note - you need to get your pc clean. Nasty bugs are about - i had one a few years ago that came down with a downloaded file - i didnt know but it was copying the logins for my websites.

They then hacked in and redirected my homepages to dodgy sites!!! You dont want it taking down TACCA!!

I would get your pc well cleaned and maybe change important passwords

This works well as a PC check in case your antivirus lets anything in

pop up blocker wont sort bad viruses - at best it will only hide them, slow everything up and normally doesnt work very well as the virus will infect them, the anti virus you are running and sometimes the Windows start up files

removal is the only safe option, otherwise you dont know what information it is logging on your pc and sending off remotely to someone else to get their hands on

The simplest thing that very often works is a 'system restore'

Restore it to a point before you had any problems - Google system restore for whatever Windows package you are on and it will show you how

With mine it shows the potentially malware programs and you select them and delete then restart. Did it show you a list of PUP's (Potentially unwanted programs) Derek?
