Well  despite my best efforts I have finally been caught by a customer to seal approx 30 sq meters of brick weave patio.

Customer requires Matt finish, and ideally for me I'd like it to be one coat ( lazy barsteward that I am 😀 )

What is best for this, polyurethane , or solvent free variety ?  Predestination area ( back garden ) so no cars being parked on it.

Resiblock do superior matt . Bit pricey but if you speak with them they will give a discount to the trade

Not really, havent been darn sarf for a while.

Never used a sealer so cant comment, but if it was me, and they wanted the bricks to look standard, then i would talk to kev martin. He has some decent sealers.

I always use resiblock 22 if they want a matt sealer, last for years and you can go along in a couple of years and just give it a clean without sanding / resealing... it really is that good, but you pay for what you get mate... when it comes to gloss I just use acrylics like pics etc as you won't have any problems giving it a top up coat in a couple of years... by the way, what ever you go for, make sure you roll it on to flood the sand joints as that's the whole point of sealing block paving

I keep debating resi 22 but the price always puts me off! At least it's only a 1 coat product I guess saving on time. Resiblock factory is only 25 minute drive for me but trying to give up with the sealers if I can avoid it

Instead of starting a new sealer thread I thought I would just revive this thread. How far would a 25 litre drum of resiblock 22 get you. I know lee kenny uses this mainly, ie would 1drum of resiblock 22 be enough to cover a 100msq drive

Depends on the gaps and porosity of the blocks....it "should" be "around" 4m per litre.

You will need two Drums for 100sqm.
If you have never applied it before you will end up putting to much on ...that or even worse too little!
You will  not get a feel for spread rates till you have done a few an you get used to your sprayer and walking speed.
If you go ahead ....measure out a square meter and apply to that area your selected amount.Do it again and again ...that way you wont have any nasty surprises at the 50m mark!

Don't use a matt finish ...use gloss and call it an "enhanced" look...bringing out the natural features of your customers beautiful drive.Most customers don't know what they want an it is really up to you to give them the best "look" for there money.(although most specify they do not want a shiny driveway)
Gloss will never be shiny on something like  UV bleached rough finish block driveway.
Don,t seal if there is movement driveway.
Don't seal without leaving the driveway to dry out for 2/3 days in "hot" sun.
Don't seal if weeds are present before cleaning (without treating first...you need a licence to do this).
Don't seal if there are depressions in the driveway with no way of draining.
Don't seal if there is any "loose" sand lying on the block.
Double check shaded areas for moisture in the block.
Be Careful about using a PU sealer  if it is your first sealing job.

Cheers Chris, no I've never sealed before and it's something I don't promote but recently I've had 2 jobs where customer wanted it. I've clean and sanded and said see what you think at that point. They both where made up at the finished product and thanked me for not allowing them to spend a further £300-£400 on the sealer. But I know at some point  someone will want it sealed so trying to research as much as I can.

Just tell them you dont seal. Then explain why. Come across as confident and give legitimate reasons why you dont seal, then get them booked in to clean it next year.

Do what Kev Martin always says, and educate the customer.

Thanks roger do they do courses for sealing? I know smartseal did or do one but not heard good things. I'm told it's more product pushing than educational but obviously don't know how true that is.
