Most of the window cleaners who use ladders, leathers, scrims and squeegees - are professional window cleaners - I know many who clean windows this way and clean the glass very quickly and leave it perfect.

I would also add that many of these types of window cleaners could master a waterfed pole in no time....
The waterfed pole guys however would take months to learn how to use traditional equipment effectively to earn enough money....

We use ALL methods and I teach all employees - as the waterfed pole like the squeegee is just another useful tool and has its place.

We have three vans - all with water fed poles/tanks etc - as well as ladders - squeegees - leathers, scrims etc - different jobs require different methods.

one things for sure, theyd never waste time takin photos of you
He wasted time texting. Then his ladder slipped.

But just to show the other side, two trad guys started a house opposite me in Greenham a couple of weeks ago. They were totally professional, cleaned awkward windows with a trad pole and nodded hello. Two of them took longer to do the front than I did on an identical house.

Return of the moody bunch!

Did i once slag off trad window cleaners? I was aiming it at these specific ones.
How do i know their druggies? Because i have grown up in the area and know exactly what they are. If you can trad a full house in just over a minute no matter how long you have been doing it then there is something wrong?

And Dazmond you give you input on peoples business on here saying how
To improve etc and i did the exact same stating that if it was me i would give them uniforms, price higher and chose my staff more wisely. Its a sad day when someone someone falls and paralyses themselves and these kind of monkeys are the ones that it will happen to!
Safety first.

Its a forum... Were we share things like this and our points.
So you dont think its bad that a 17-20 year old nearly fell off a ladder in the 30mins i was there, imagine what goes on weekly.
And you dont think its bad that the same lads were caught using someones back garden as a bbq area whilst suppose to be cleaning windows?

I wasn't dismissing.

its bad yes, but at the end of the day they are choosing to work like that and for the bloke who owns the round.

There is a lot of bad practice in the industry, I wasn't trivialising this at all. please don't take me wrong.

more bad practice their is, the better for you and me who have a much higher professional approach to things. we stand out like shiny new pennies amongnst the mire that is in window cleaning sir!

And the Trad guys reading this and thinking im taking the
Mick please dont! I am just pointing out another story of bad practice giving you lads a bad name!
Its the same for us WFP'ers i hear stories all the time of windows drying really streaky, and scratched glass, and no insurance etc.

I wouldn't be cleaning windows if there was no wfp but its not because I cant use a
blade and app.
Both methods are easy enough to master but one requires a risk that I find unacceptable.

Let me work something out here...
Stick up for these guy who give all the good tradders a bad name?

Like climbing a ladder and standing there texting on his phone?
Or when he ran down the ladder and it slipped( luckily ) fell onto a porch or he could of been injured?
Or the story i told about them smoking drugs in a customers garden with his lady friend?
Or the 7 houses they did in 11 minutes?

Go back to the first post and read it properly were i PIN POINTED every point made to them lads not every tradder.

Im water fed pole and when i see someone doing bad practice and giving us all a bad name it really annoys me! It just so happened i was on my dinner break and had to video them as it was comical

To be honest going back years now but I had guys doing worse
than smoking a joint when working. wouldn't be the first time
I've texted up a ladder and that pic you showed is that not just 1 window
Each seems fair to me to do 7 windows in 11 mins as it looks like
terraced houses. We are all free to work how we want but would suggest
any one who isn't very good at trad gets practising.

I disagree with you there.

Look on this forum in the search bar "WFP problems" see how many topics there are? Thousands. Then there are far fewer "trad problems"

Why?

Because it's easier to get a good finish trad than it is WFP.

I regularly see guys who have been WFP for years still not rinsing properly or reading a window wrong as in which rinse pattern to use.

Within a day or 2 you can "master" a squeegee, but I would say even now after 10 years of WFP I'm still learning.

Let's face it, you soap a window, squeegee it off. But with WFP you've got numerous issues you have to be aware of;

Hodrophibic/hydrophilic glass
Window vents
Marks that require extra scrubbing
Drain holes in certain hopper type windows
Dodgy Rubber seals you have to be able to spot
Oxidised frames that require a glass only final rinse
Painted wooden frames where you have to leave the top frame bone dry

....to name but a few.

Please don't tell me trad is harder to master than wfp. Lol

I use both by the way, I have some runs where we still use ladders because of access, but I can see that it's much more difficult to get a perfect finish WFP than it is with a squeegee.

The skill in trad is speed. Anyone can blade side to side and wipe the corners and edges.

However blading a window quickly with no edging day in day out take the skill.
