Jesus - what a weekend that was!
« on: April 21, 2014, 05:16:15 pm »
Hard drive packed up on my laptop thursday morning  :o

No problem I thought - buy a new one, reinstall George and off we go again.............. only I hadn't backed up George in ages because I knew it had internet back up and basically I never did it any more.
Quick email to George support - nothing, great ::)roll
Never mind- dig out an old back up and re-install it, still can't do it.
Couple more emails to George and I'm getting worried now. Eventually I get one back "as you haven't paid the subscriptions since 2012 and haven't backed it up recently- you've lost the lot"

Couldn't believe it! I was sure I'd paid - apparently not and Paul Sanders has obviously got no interest in me at all.

So Aworka it is then.......... only I've had to put every job in from memory and diaries. The format is very different from George but I'm getting there.

Back up everything!!!

For me (being rather thick) it's the support that I need. I have to be able to get help when things go wrong. I also fancy the option of using it on my phone and tablet.

What do you mean no interest at all? you didn't renew your subscription what do you want him to do? it warns you everyday for about 2 weeks when its about to expire

:)  and I pay it - or so I thought. I press the back up to internet every night and it seemed to go ok, no warnings nothing. I can't spot any payments in my bank statements so maybe I didn't pay. I cant remember how it appears on the statement either. Anyway, too late now.

What was odd was the old data flashed up a warning immediately when I tried to back it up telling me it couldn't be backed up to the internet. No warning on the up to date stuff.

You should get a message appear every time you try to log out of George.
This usually starts appearing approximately 2-3 weeks before expiry date.
If you are unsure I suppose you could email Paul at George to confirm your expiry date.
It's worth making sure it's paid up to date.  ;)

That's just it - mine didn't.
If you haven't paid then yours won't get backed up either.

Have to agree, keeping my own records and doing paperwork is the only thing that stops me from becoming a
complete zombie.
I find I need it to give my two brain cells something to do once in a while.
Suppose it would be a different story if I employed.
