Distance measuring meter ?
« on: April 21, 2014, 10:39:12 am »
Whenever I quote a job I get really nervous, and tend to just look at the area, and guess the total area.  I have been looking at the laser measuring tools to give a faster, and more accurate measurement  like this  -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Laser-Distance-Meter-Area-Volume-Measure-Range-Finder-Accuracy-2mm-60m-/291129788306?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item43c8b00792

Does anyone use these ?

Thanks.

I thought it would be a good idea as well, until I bought one and realised they dont work well in day light! It is now in shed with all my other bright ideas!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOLDABLE-DISTANCE-MEASURING-WHEEL-IN-BAG-ROAD-LAND-318M-/270652868851?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item3f042b08f3

Rarely use it, only for super large jobs, patios I just count in slabs, I call it 2 to a meter
Brick weave drives are usually 3 mtrs wide and a large stride is just under a meter so however many strides x 3 = area x 3 + cost and time for re sanding

Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

I use a step machine that's accurate to +- 1mm. I get the measuring wheel out when I get that feeling about the customer and want top dollar

I've just downloaded Smart distance from the play store, free app.

Looks like it could do the job - i've been looking for something as well!
