i used normal down pipe brackets screwed into the cross members with self tapping screws .

the brackets i brought only had one screw hole but i used three screws in each bracket (drill a small pilot hole with 3/4 mm drill bit) and it has not moved .

will upload pics tomorrow if i remember.

may be too excited about my new extreme pole arriving!  ;D

http://www.wickes.co.uk/Adjustable-Downpipe/p/158939

These are the ones I use and as others have said self tappers into a cross member in the roof. Handy as they are adjustable which can be useful if there is a lip in the roof line to get past. You'd probably get three across the roof space if you position them correctly?

I've got some bunjee cords across mine and slide the van wash brush down the side of one of the down tubes.

+1 to 1576 above.

The biggest benefit of the Wickes ones is that they have adjustment to move the bracket towards and away from the van roof - this means you can angle them correctly so the pole will actually come out of the van.

Fit them with self-tappers into the roof arches.  If you need significant extra distance from the roof, screw a piece of wood to the arch with a self-tapper then screw into the block of wood.

If there's not an arch where you need one (there isn't in mine) then you'll need to fit a piece of wood across the width of the van attached at the end to whatever bit you can self-tap into.

I hope i'm not stating the obvious, but you don't need the pipe. You only need the brackets. Your poles will sit fine in the brackets, there is no logical reason to need the actual pipe tube. If you want to get more than one pole in a bracket you're probably better off getting soil pipe brackets. I'd guess they'll be loads cheaper at your local screwfix rather than B&Q.

+1...Great minds think alike.
Why waste money buying pipe.....the brackets are all you need.

..........and Daz, don't forget the roof arches have a limited depth so you want to ensure the self drill Tek screws (if that's what you are going to use) or any other screw doesn't damage or pierce the actual roof because it's too long.

Don't laugh as it happens. A plyling company sent a youngster out to fit plylinning kits to 100 Berlingo vans. He used the wrong length screws and the company had to replace 100 plastic fuel tanks.

Same as mine. Using a pipe keeps the poles hose tubing easier to keep tidy
