not enough pressure to run surface cleaner
« on: April 09, 2014, 08:41:51 pm »
Hi all I have a honda GX390 with interpump 21 litres a min and a  18in surface cleaner . It was working fine  then  started to have trouble with the surface cleaner. When its all connected the pressure seems to run the surface cleaner but not enough to keep it spinning constantly pressure goes up and down.
has anyone had a problem like this and how can I fix.

Your nozzles are too small.

I brought all of my set up from q washers and was told everything is matched.  It was working for a while then just started to play up.  Could there be a blockage somewhere or has a seal in the pump failed. When I use the lance the pressure seems fine.

Sounds like a blocked nozzle - does it wobble / vibrate

Not really just comes on for a couple of seconds then off . I will try and record on my phone  over the weekend  to show wots happening. Have checked both nozzles and they seem fine.

sounds like you may have blocked / too small nozzle with a k unloader valve?

Can I send you my video  . Is it a case of taking off unloaded valve and giving it a good clean then put air compressor to it

I've watched the video. Both the nozzles seem to have even flow but not very much. Do you have a flow or trapped pressure unloader ? Does it have a black numpty thats wound right in ? Does a gun work ok ? I still think its nozzles so yes remove and either blow them out or pick the blockage with wire

Everything was brought from q washers  it has k5 unloader valve which  has no  adjustable numpty was told by q washes that I dont have to adjust as it was already done.  But it can prob be adjusted, but haven't needed too. The gun works as it should and has a return to tank when gun not in use. The pw is still advertised is on eBay by q washer it's Honda gx390 21 l it has big red trolley and big wheels.

If the gun is ok then it can only be an issue with the FSC. Don't touch the unloader. Clean both the nozzles on the FSC but run the machine with them out - this proves the gun / swivel, then with clean nozzles it should be all good

Yes it's because the k wants to run at full flow... if it needs to unload more than a certain percentage of water it goes straight to bypass. Unlike trapped pressure unloaders where you can run really small jets in them and the unloader just compensates by dumping water back in the tank... k's only like to dump a ceratin amount before they just switch to full bypass

Say if you got a blocked nozzle on a k unloader it would pulse on and off as if you are pressing the trigger on and off.
