GX390 is 11 and a bit at best ...at the correct sea level in a Taiwan factory test centre.

It's more the Torque curve you need to worry yourself about....what happens at 3400rpm... your gearbox speed. Carl will explain to you.

Then again Interpump could of messed up and made the inlet manifold on the 202 too small to flow 21lpm...my guess is the engine gx390 11hp is to small to turn pump and gearbox and make something "suck" water aswell as "pump" water.

I believe Darran (smudger) on here has one, bought from Qwashers. Maybe he could run a test. 25L drum, see how long it takes to fill almost to the top?

I know my 26hp engine can run my 21lpm pump fine  ;D

My lombardini also manages a 21  :o I used to race pro karts and although only 5.5 hp as stated  they varied on the dyno a hp either way. The size and volume of filter makes a huge difference to the amount of water that gets to the pump, I have a QR on the inlet to my pump - I know it flows more than 21 ltrs. Test it yourself - 25 ltr tub in a minute ?

A Honda gx390 13 hp is a 13hp... however a new style (after around 2010 - 2011) is only called a gx390 because of the engine cc, they dropped the 13hp because of euro emissions etc and had to restric the fuel consumption and emmisions to comply with these rules, in doing this the gx390 has a maximum output of 11.7 HP.... hope this help??

So in short a pre 2010 will be 13hp output (just look at the recoil aswell to tell) and a newer GX390 will will be 11.7HP

But BOTH will run a ws202 adequately, (even an old 11HP will run one, ive had them)

As regaurds to suction through one port on a ws202, the suction power is determin by the rpm... which is as you know 1450, the port is 1/2" and can only physically suck 18 or 19lpm through a 1/2 port at that rpm... (power shouldn't even come into it because a 5 hp engine will still turn the pump at 1450.... it just wont put it through a nozzle at the end.

I had a jetmac machine with a 202 on it the other month, when running the machine that came to me with only one port (as jetmac sends them out, which he shouldn't do, and neither should any other dealer whos worth their salt) I found that it would only go up to about 190 bar when turned up, I could also feel the restriction on the gun (the same feeling you get with a small air leak or a squashed suction pipe). I then, before even looking into seals and pistons, put another feed on the other inlet, fired the machine up to try again and instantly was up to full pressure at 200 bar, a nice steady solid flow.
So yes, a 202 does need twin feeding, unless your gravity fed then that would be a different story as it has a positive force so is having water pushed into it rather than sucking it up and over a drum against gravity

By removing some of the "load" (two feeds) you allow the limited amount  of torque available turn the pump enough to work at 200bar @21lpm. The 13p engine produces max Torque at 2500 rpm it then drops by  3400rpm ...the gearbox input speed .
The engine is not big enough...It will work...just about .Really it need 14hp. Fit a kohler.
Carls diesel "13hp" diesel produces more "power" than a "13hp" petrol...Torque.

Is my diesel now only 13 horse ? I'm getting the dyno sheets from my prokart days and tuning pressure washers as there is obviously a market. The exhaust mod gives a horse ! I only use positive feeds on my washers - even wheely bins and as I said earlier the filter makes a difference.

the engine speed should be 3150 - 3200 max, not sure what the hp output is on the engine curve? but that's the speed that it should be doing, gearboxes are 2.2 to 1 (2.176 to 1 if you wanted to be exact), not 2 to 1 as most people think.

if you are sucking from a drum with 2 feeds instead of one then I would have thought the load / weight would have been doubled? as the machine is picking up twice the amount of water, either way, it could still be done with less than 5.5hp as its not under any pressure, probably about 2 - 3 bar? lol? anyway, that's the bobby moore as I know it from 1st hand trials

Do the calculation yourself
Pump 10hp ideal conditions
Can't find a value for the gearbox...lets assume 1 hp...maybe 2 hp.
Then you are going to make something do something it was never designed to do....ie suck. There is a clue in it's name ...pump. Lets add 1/2 hp for this operation.
Really the donkey needs to be around 20% more powerful than the what is required...14/15hp.
As Lee says anything will turn it and pump water....until you add a load to it. You can push your car on the flat...try up a hill!
Try this http://engines.honda.com/models/model-detail/gx390  check out the section performance curve.

Everybody else except me thinks it will be ok . Go for it.
Damien sticks twin feeds on them and he knows what he is doing.
I would imagine it is one of his best selling machines...the 13 hp one. Jetmac would not stop building them because of a minor thing like the engine is too small........
Nobody would buy them if it had a Briggs engine so there is no option really if you want  a 21lpm machine. The market dictates a 21lpm Honda machine.
