Bucket Whoops
« on: March 25, 2006, 02:24:29 pm »
How many of you have had the bucket spill and go right through the car.

Someone asked me once did it not spill, I said never had it happen. Went down the road and a car came round the corner on my side of the road, whoosh front foot wells full of water. ;D Dosn't the carpet stink for a  while.

Should have kept me mouth shut.

When I was trad. I would wedge the (large oblong) bucket in the front passenger footwell. A similar thing happened to me and my mobile phone flew off the front seat and immersed itself in the bucket.

Immediately took battery out and let it dry for a week at home before gingerly turning it on. Worked perfectly except no display whatsoever. Still usable as a phone tho'.

Nine months later and the display suddenly started working again!

Also the old shin down the ladder and stand in the bucket trick from time to time!
It's a game of three halves!

i put the bucket behind the passager seat at the back of the car and its always spilling. got a towel and some old scrims to soak most of the water up but its well funny when some one sits on the passager seat cos they always get a wet bum ;D

last year wasn't so funny though when a taxi pulled out in front of me, couldn't go anywhere but into him. i got soaked, was not a happy bunny, thankfully the ladders stayed on the roof rack otherwise it might have been one dead cabbie

My Mate used to work for travel lodge. He got me a load of 15ltr buckets with lids.
They had held cooking oil, washed out they are fine. No spills with the lid on. Dai

I keep my bucket in the boot of my car. I put it inside a larger container such as a storage box or a tote bin. This catches any spillages on my travels.  ;D

I keep my bucket in boot of car it sits in an oblong plastik container so if it does tend to slip and slide the water that has been spilt is contained in the plastik tub   ;)

I used to keep bucket in boot of car wedged secure. But spillage would always occur (doing roundabouts too fast!)
Water always ended up in spare tyre well & tyre went mouldy.

SOLUTION:     Bucket with tight fitting lid.
