Two things, one, resigned maybe or sacked no one knows. Two, G+ is not social as you might think in the prospect way, more like this forum in a professional way.
I agree that it does not look good if you add in the fact that hundreds of coders have been moved away from G+ but again Google like to run things on a shoe string so their job may be done. The great thing about code it works without you have to stand over it. sure you need to keep a eye on it.
The fact is that G+ is Google project about telling real people from spammers. that adds juice to any content.
