Independent Equipment Reviews
« on: March 24, 2006, 11:57:09 pm »
Hi All,

First time post...

After browsing the forum and reading everybodys take on the equipment; are there any independet review sites? You know, like the 'What to Buy' guides etc. Is there a 'What Car' type site for carpet cleaning equipment?

Cheers,

G.W Cleaning

But its not independent, everyone has the links to a certain company be it by using their euipment or their Chemicals, so most people on this site are not indepentent.

Would be good to find a site that does explain whats good and whats not.

When I first started I did not have a clue what to use but found out what the Seniors on the NCCA where using and went from their.

Cheers

Most people here ARE independent, they make their own choices and decisions regarding equipment and chemicals they use, they can switch to any supplier at any time.

Would be good to find a site that does explain whats good and whats not.

;D ;D ;D

Neil, I cannot stop laughing

When I first started I did not have a clue what to use but found out what the Seniors on the NCCA where using and went from their.

Newbies can do it here just as well…

Welcome to the forum!

The only advice I can offer is

If you can lift it, then it aint good enough :)  ;D

Best is hard to quantify..... it's horses for courses, if you are working in flats you need light, portable gear, if you are cleaning restaurants, you need big, powerful gear

After all, read "what car" and there's no one winner: if you buy a sports car you can't get over traffic humps, if you buy a big car you can't park it, if you buy a small car you can't fit everything into it......

Anyway, if there was just one "best buy" there would be a heck of a less discussion on this forum......

Hi Guys,

There will always be alignments to preferred chemicals /equipment but I do believe we are as indepedant minded as one can be on this forum.

For those who do not know ,  Mike Boxall who owns the site also owns Express Cleaning Supplies who are Prochem distributors . However he does not push Prochem on this forum  and neither is any pressure applied on the Moderators.

For my part I  encourage indepedent thinking and try to cut through a lot of the bull which surrounds chemicals in particular .

I do not comment on equipment as much as this is generally outside my field of expertise.

There will always be people / companies who abuse forums but CC's are not stupid and most can see through blatant plugging. Mods will remove stooge posts which do not help sensible debate but we are fairly liberal on here.

Ultimately we get the quality of forum we deserve.

Cheers

Your comments about the machines that the 'seniors in the NCCA' used I also found amusing in the nicest possible way.

I would hazard a guess that they all use different makes of machines much like the rest of us. I do know the type that 'some' of them use and that is the case

Me....I have used Dominators (in the very early days), Prochem, Alltec, Extracta, CFR and at that particular time I believed everyone was the best on the market...its not necessarily what machine you buy ....its how you use it.

Richard,

If you have a particular market sector, you intend targeting your choice of equipment is easier, but............

What tends to happen in this business, is that, our aims can be blown away, by accident, by experience, by economics.

I always suggest ,that newcomers to this business, aquire  second hand equipment, as there is a strong possibility that it may not be for you.

It's damned hard work...........more often than not, you work alone...........you may - in the early days  -  have to work unsociable hours and many of them.

Therefore IMO you should not invest any more than you can afford to lose.

Not being negative.........so many will tell you .............buy a t/m .......buy a big powerfull device ............don't buy a smaller machine............

There are always machines of all sizes appearing on the equipment for sale section.

best of luck
