Which sealent is the most common one used by people on here to seal block paving? Resiblock?

I've been using resiblock for a few years and to be honest don't think I'm going to bother with offering sealing anymore. It's just a big pain in the arse because you want to use a good quality sealer but costs a fair bit of money so you cover all angles with a good quality job but most customers go with the cheapest quote which cuts you out of the job when you get someone come along offering a cheaper price using crap sealer and the customer hasn't a clue most of the time about quality of sealers used. Also then your fighting the weather all the time which reaps havoc with your diary and having a few hundred pounds tied up in sealer on each job doesn't do your finances much good in comparison to a few bags of kiln dried ect. You then have the problem of the sealers living up to what all these companies promise they will do and how long they last which in my opinion sometimes not accurate. These sealers especially resiblock are also very bad for your health ( cancerous ) and I have also experienced nearly passing out at the wheel driving home from a days work applying it so if you do use it make sure you have a mask and never put the wet scuttles  in the back of the van because the vapours are dangerous hence my experiance

the chap on the driveclean today said a neighbour over the road has had his drive sealed,   he said it keeps getting a coating every couple of years,  it keeps flaking

no sealing 4 me.

Thanks for the replies guys, think my mind is made up I am not going to do sealing unless the customer is adamant on wanting it as I'm hearing lots of people having issues and hassles doing it, ie being priced out of the market etc etc. to save me starting another thread what do people use to remove oil Staines? Brake cleaner, resiblock OR

David is spot on!  Deadly vapours from sealants in the van. Sealing is waste of time and bad for your health. We stopped sealing years ago and have never looked back. Just hope the cancer hasn't set in yet from those di isocynate vapours.

I don't push sealing but if they want it sealed we seal it.

My main competition tries to seal everything, over sells it gives 5 year warranties and charges a fortune.
and he is a class 1 t1t.

Teflon on the fancy stone, Acrylic on the imprint...Resiblock when specified.
No problems with sealing stuff. Wait till it is dry and know when to say no. If it's  gypsy drive full of weeds and sinking ....no amount of sealer will sort it out.

Its not meant to act as a joint stabiliser it is meant to prevent the block paving from further deep staining.  If you want a joint stabiliser then resand it with stabilising sand instead of KDS.  I accept all views on sealers but don't knock them till you try them.  A water based sealer only requires the surface to be dry not the block itself.  It is easy to apply and you get paid!

Kev, Sorry but this is a nonsense. I am not questioning wether it will protect the block, but it simply doesn't solve the problem with block paving. Would have no chance trying to sell this to customers as it only partially solves the problem. Even Smart seal would be better then this option.
Is this not a risk advising people to apply seal if the surface is dry yet the remaining block may still be wet  Surely the block has to be dry atleast 10-20mm for the seal to penetrate hence back to climate problems.

So ARE YOU saying the problem people have with block paving is the sanded joints not the blocks???

Sealing with a water based sealer is completely safe and effective provided the surface is dry.  The water in the sealer transports the sealer into the blocks with ease then  the water that was the transport system to get the sealer in just evaporates over time with the rest of the moisture from the block.  Don't forget the sealer is breathable (MVT).
