All these "accredited" schemes amaze me, who the authority checking them to know what's what?
we are members of CAT, but I only use it these days as part of advertising budget and the general public like these "Creds", but they are IMO a waste of time, just Red Tape, to make things difficult and some people happy.
We carry MSDS sheets for everything we use, and do RAMS which all get passed, how much more do you need paperwork wise, so does this make me safer then someone with a SC piece of paper?

So glad our lines of work are unknown, decking, furniture, or some bloke in a suit, would dream up some obstacle to make life difficult without a modicum of an idea of what we do.

Roger, yes it was. The factory handles 80% of the edible oil used in this country and the oil leaked out of an insulated mild steel silo, the insulation was wet causing the rot. The oil itself did remind me of really thick Liberon decking oil but did come off with just heat and the turbo nozzle albeit slowly. They were very pleased with the results. While I was there I did find another oil remover which I will trial but first impressions are good. The site needs other jobs that I can help with so I will set the office manager on the safe contractor task  .

Some things are a lot safer than others. Everything we do we should minimize the risk.Find safer was of doing it..for the environment and those around us.

BDCS get ready for huge amount of paper work, as you provide multiple services you need to supply info for everything all aspects P washing right down to carpet cleaning. First year is the worst. Information is supplied via the net by scanning documents and uploading onto their system, they probably wont tell you this but you can do it in stages, which saves the pain a bit. Just imagine Rob with one 70 page risk assesment they will love him

I think its worth belonging to atleast one of these schemes as atleast it shows you have some knowledge / cover some areas of HS.

It carries the dead fish symbol !! (what does n't?) .We have never wiped out anybodys Koi collection. I would not give your goldfish to drink tho' .
HSE have passed it for general use by professionals . Normal chemical rules rules apply...use wisely

We had a simple choice, risk losing a 20K yearly contract or join SC, some multi nationals etc insist you join certain schemes.

If you work on a Asda supermarket, you have to be CSCS certified , These stores are live and not building sites but they stipulate this requirement to all contractors regardless. Ed

And we have been trading for 15 years on commercial and domestics, schools, and plenty of commecial cleans like shopping parks etc. we wouldn't bother with paying extra money out but I guess if you had to have it for your 20k a year contract then you needed it.  Everyone's different with what they need I suppose.

WE HAD CHAS, SAFE CONTRACTOR etc etc etc sine the very first day of trading in March 2010

Then we decided to cancel all of them - and spend more money on marketing - Now we have more customers and more money to spend on getting more customers rather than paying for silly schemes.

We found the customers who wanted us to have them also wanted the lowest prices - we never got any work because we won't charge low prices - so no need for the accreditations etc

Decided to rename our company. We are going to call ourselves 'Pink P---- Cleaning Services'.

Unfortunately, the forum finds this offensive hence 'Pink Kitten'. I do find it slightly offensive that they rule the P word to be offensive, but thats another issue.

Reason for the name change looking to target more commercial clients, as a general rule PA's are usually female, hence the colour Pink ... the ladies also like cute little animals hence p-----.
Just to be clear I have shown this to my partner (female) she has concluded this is not in anyway sexist. Thankyou............To be honest she did try to smack me but I was making a sharp exit. All the best
