Does anyone do or carry out email marketing, is is successful, do you do it your self or use a company

ive done a wee bit with limited success

got few jobs out of  it but generally were one offs

i do it myself

template email and just get out yellow pages focus on a particlar section..... then next week pick new section and bang off few emails.

its easy but limited results so far
