Getting pressure washing work ... door knocking
« on: February 28, 2014, 05:17:53 pm »
This is quite common way to build a window cleaning round but does anyone do it for pressure washing work.

Keep seeing loads of opportunities on my daily travels.

I know if may seem a little bit "traveller".

Alternatively if you pick a job up does anyone knock the houses nearby to offer your services ?

Used to do it a few years ago. We would drop leaflets with all our contact details, address etc, then call back the following day. Used to work well.

Good luck.

We had a fair few commercial jobs by either emailing them an image of the area I've previously seen and know they need cleaning or by walking in and asking for the manager/caretaker/head of house keeping, speaking to them about what we can do and leaving a card.
50/50 chance they will then check out the website, once they do that, boom they want us!  ;D

Work doesn't always come to you, you've gotta have the confidence to get out there and get it at times.

Never had to do this on domestic basis don't deliver flyers either. Usually gain extra customers by neighbours seeing us working plus referrals

When I first started out offering pressure washing as an add on service was due to a few of my domestic customers asking if I did it. I soon found out most already owned a domestic type washer but it either broke or they found out it was useless on block paving driveways.

Regarding leaflet dropping I also dropped a few business cards through letter boxes local to me that their driveways needed a good clean and just left it at that. About a week later I got my first job from that and in the end ended up doing most of the patios & driveways in that street. Many have become regular customers too.

I would also like to say it is important to include your full address, landline number and web address on whatever you put through the door as ppl like to know who you are as there are plenty of travellers and cowboys about that do so say pressure washing. Also I’ve found taking plenty of before & after pics and adding them to the website with testimonials help too.

At times when the pressure washing work drops off a bit I think I could be more proactive but after saying that most of my domestic work now comes from whilst working on the job, referrals, repeat business or through my site.

Hope this helps?

Good luck!

Pickie says "Yes missus we have sealed it aswell as we put it in the water we use to pressure wash yer drive. Don't lift up the shrubs or flower pots though as we could not be arsed to clean under em." Old lady says " what about the all the weeds still there. Pikie responds" don't worry about that as weed killer was is in the water too so they will die off. Now give me my cash so I can buy me new vogue" ;D

thanks fellas ... even more convinced that the work is out there now ... will be selling a chunk of window cleaning customers off towards August ish time or even a little sooner ... will leave myself enough to cover 80% of my bills so will need to get the rest from pressure washing.

Should bring in about £9000 to £12000 which will give me enough for a bigger van (combo at moment), a decent spec new pressure washer FSC etc. and a few quid in bank to tide me over.

Always canvass up some new window cleaning customers if I have to.

That's the pans at the moment so far.

There is always work out there but the hard part is getting it so you need to sell yourself and not just on price.

selling bit not a problem as sold cars for 25 years before becoming a window cleaner 4 years ago ... most of my round has been canvassed by me so used to door knocking ... appreciate more to it than this ... website, image, van graphics etc etc but I feel confident .. gained some experience pressure washing last year and made a few quid as well .... defo wont be working on cheap hate to be a busy fool .... :)

How many years did Arthur Daley sell cars for?  ;D

How about buying into my business? You could have Chester and North Wales and I could throw in Elesmere Port!
