thats it!ive finished with hot water for good!

i was faffing around this morning with my new thermobore plus.i hate it!too heavy and i just couldnt get the calibration right on controller to shut the water off in a quick time.

after cleaning some offices i came home.took out heater and thermobore and gas bottle.replaced with reel with microbore on.

rest of the day no problems whatsoever.nice light hose.no pressure problems,no fumes in the van.

ive spent £150 on gas in 3 months and around £350 on heater,thermobore,connectors etc.so £500 altogether.

ill be selling my heater and 90m of thermobore plus to try and recoup a bit of the money ive spent.ive also got a few metres of radiator hose surplus.

im glad ive tried hot water but for me its just not worth it.ive not saved any time whatsoever over the last few months.in fact its cost me time and money that didnt need to be spent.

im looking forward to spring now!heater free,gas bottle free,fume free and no pressure or hose problems!

the hose you need for hot water just slows me down and negates any cleaning benefit compared to using standard microbore.

Daz you should keep it just for the very cold days when it's frosty and snowy.
I know when it's that cold my jets & hose just freeze up so only use it for them days, not sure if we getting this cold snap coming but so far so good the winter has been mild. I gotta say you are right thou there is alot of flapping about with hot as sometimes the pilot goes out and the shower drips a lil sometimes !!!

Can't see the point of hot personally, only got a Berlingo so don't really want to cart gas and heaters around or heavy hose for that matter, as for working in cold weather got some nice skiing gloves thanks and if it's that cold, I won't work, work when it's not snowing. Too clean filthy jobs, easy detergent!

dannymack i dont consider £500 a lot of money.if i get £150 for heater and thermobore then its only £350 ive lost.

BUT ive learnt something!!i had to try hot water for myself and over the last 3 months ive decided its not for me.its really not needed IMO.

ive worked in -2 before now with cold wfp with very little problems.a separate flask of hot water thaws the jets out if they freeze(only happened about 3 times in 4 years)and if the hose freezes on the ground its time to go home anyway IMO.(has never happened to me by the way as i keep the water flowing as much as possible).

on below freezing nights i bring reel in and pop an oil filled radiator in the back of van.job done and no frozen pumps etc.

im on a mission dave next month.price increases across the board(80% of my work).ive already put my 2 monthlies up.so from april i should be earning at least an extra £250-300 per month for the same work.

Daz £500 is alot of money, your forgetting all the bits and bobs plus the thermo 6mm hose you bought that blew.

I go out at 4.30am and its freezZZZing so defo need warm water for me. I have a heater in the van that clicks on at 3am so it's nice and toasty but i once worked with cold water when the ground was frosty, my hose just froze when I was working as it was laying on the frostyyy grass. Wouldn't be without my hot wash as I only have it warm to stop that and keep hoses nice and soft !!!! 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

I remember getting cheesed off with hot, due to the same reason.  The pump wasn't stopping in time, pressure was building, hoses were bursting and I was wasting water.  It seemed that no matter what adjustment I made to both a digital controller and an analogue one I couldn't get the pump cut off time right.  What I did was to max out the calibration setting and then lower the pressure switch on the pump and the result is a perfect working hot water fed pole system.

It might be worth storing the equipment rather than selling it.  If you sell it all you might claw back £200 maybe £300, next year we might have weather systems like they have had in the USA this year and then a few hours modding your van will enable you to work in the extreme cold not losing out on £2-300 a day.  Of course next year might be warm and wet again you never know, but that's the point you never know, sell the gear and you might be buying it all back again in 10 months time.

Some time back someone on here got rid of his Aquadapter, could not get used to it was the problem, only to fit it after a few months.I guess its a case of playing with fire and getting his hands burner.  ANOTHER HOT WATER GURU HAS GONE COLD.

Daz, why not do the 2 reel one hot one cold setup? If it's all connected and not causing any problems, you will always have it available for when you need it.

A couple of months ago you was telling us hot water is so much better than cold, cuts through the dirt better etc! Make up your mind 
Had a couple of teething problems when I went hot, but worked them out and it has been good to have. Never had the twisted hose etc you seem to have had.
Stick with it, and only use when it is cold, or a real green manky job.
Changed my gas bottle today, last time it was changed was October so that shows how little I use the heater. And only a 6kg bottle too. But it is good to know it is there when I need it.

Last year my heater earned me atleast £500 with work I wouldn't have got done other wise. I'm in Scotland though.

Not having a hot wash isn't an option for me now.

I never use it unless I'm doing very dirty windows, or when it's frosty outside.

Would be daft not having a heater really.

Hot IS alot nicer to work with, there is no doubt about that. I used cold today and i didnt enjoy it!

I really dont know what your struggling with, i dont even use thermobore, just mircobore and dont have problems, as i said in another post, i have a T off back to the tank before the reel. This way the hot just pumps back into tank when i unplug then im walking back to the van to turn it off. Never ever had a problem.

Possibly a case that spending decent money to have a purpose built professional set up installed would be the best option where hot water systems are concerned.

Hi Dazmond, Your're lucky! I never even got near. Bought two aquarium heaters and a small pump, luckily quite cheap.  Got the Farenheight and Celcius wrong ha ha, water about as warm as a cold cup of tea. Lesson learnt.
