hi all,
can someone tell me what the best way to clean black slate flooring, especially the white grout in between.
i will need to remove the old sealant first, what is recommended?
what is the best way to scrub? and what with?
then need to re-seal? any good recommende brands?

Hi Lynn!we clean quite a few stone/slate tiles,we use Prochems QMT stone clean mixed at 5 to one warm water with either stiff polyprop brush and loe speed rotary or if you havn't got the brush you can use a black scrubbing pad!! you might have to make the solution a bit stronger if the grouting has gone black,hope this helps Stu Clark

Hi Lynn
If it's proper slate (not the concrete look alike) the surface is normally too uneven for scrubbing pads. I use an old brush from a scrubber drier screwed to my old worn out driveboard.
Slate is also quite soft so you could get black tile surface in the slurry, which needs to come off asap.
If using stripper I'd use a neutraliser when rinsing. A grout brush is also very useful.
I use Granwax acrylic emulsion to seal. Never had any problems.
