Hi I am looking to buy my first pole and was going to buy a gardiners clx, now they are not in stock so my next choice was an ionics grafter. What is the weight of the clx with brush head and hose and is it worth me waiting until they are in stock. Does anybody prefer the grafter.

Before I bought my clx it was out of that and the facelift Phoenix, I might try one of those next, check them out of window cleaning warehouse.
I bought my clx22 with everything for £130 but I believe they've gone up in price now?

clx definitely out of those two , i had a grafter and it was next to useless.

If you can afford it go for the SLX it is such a great pole

IMHO a first pole should always be a hybrid pole such as a CLX as the unintentional abuse your first pole gets IMO , Should not be inflicted on Carbon pole such as SLX as you could wreck it in no time at all .

Once you have mastered your technique then i would go for an SLX , Same goes for brushes as well get a Superlite with a brush bumper not an Xtreme otherwise you might wreck it in days not weeks . Mike

I disagree with your reasons- the SLX is every bit as, if not more robust than the CLX. There's nothing you could do to a CLX that you couldn't with a SLX IMO.

However, using a CLX first would make you appreciate a SLX more.

i agree , the slx is in my opinion more robust and more resistant to wear than a clx , its down to cost really , when your starting out and don't have much money to spend or are not sure if you will stick at it.

Very little difference between the SLX22 and CLX22 so dont be too worried
if your budget doesn't stretch.
You wont get better than the CLX for the price.

I am not saying that the SLX is not robust but a novice who does not care for the pole properly cleaning etc and just in everyday use catching it against roof extensions etc .

I am speaking from experience i was so caught up with cleaning the windows properly and finding and mastering a correct technique and every thing that goes with converting to WFP that my first and second pole took abuse .

I would barely clean them just chuck them in the garage at the weekend and not be to bothered at them at all , totally different with SLX and it was good to work my way up to an SLX . Mike

No experience or opinion on grafter, BUT regardless of which gardiners, go for one for the simple reason of versatility with the quick lock, change brushes, jets, goose necks etc. with ease, quick and easy versatility with one pole

I have both and I use both.

The advantage of the grafter is you use as many or little sections as needed. It's a no nonsense straight forwards pole but a bit bendy at height and what ever is said on here, Ionics after sales service, like Gardiners, is really excellent for advice and problems.

The clx is a bit lighter and better at height as it's less bendy but it doesn't come apart so when doing lower work, you have to use all the sections.

If you can afford both, buy both, but if are a bit short on cash, buy the clx.

i bought a CLX22 a few years ago after using glass fibre streamline and brodex hydra poles.

I THOUGHT ID DIED AND GONE TO WINDOW CLEANING HEAVEN!

i couldnt believe the difference in weight,closed length and ease of use!

they are a good budget pole if your just starting out.if you use a light brush like an extreme on the end the bend wont be too bad fully extended.

its false economy though once you ve built your business up and poling most days for 5-7 hours esp if you have lots of awkward windows to reach at full stretch as the more expensive SLX will last twice as long if looked after properly and slightly more rigid.
