« on: February 27, 2014, 12:58:30 pm »
Hi guys the bottom section of my clx gardiners pole is stuck half way up! Can't seem to budge it to get it back down or fully extended ! It's completely jammed ! Any idea how to resolve this? Also what could cause it?  ??? ???

Its probably the stop tape come undone and jamming.  The answer is pure brute force, plus lubrication up the pole, water up the pole might help the tape to come unstuck as well.

You may have bent it, unusual on a bottom section but still possible

You can't bend a hybrid pole! It'd break before it'd bend!

It is most probably that with wear and dirt the joint-stop tape has become jammed up inside.

The easiest way of releasing the section is to work out exactly where the joint stop will be (about 15cm up from the base of the section) and apply heat to the outside of the section it is jammed in at the correct point (a hair dryer on maximum heat for several minutes). This will soften the joint-stop tape glue and allow you to separate the pole. Once apart you will need to re-apply the joint-stop tape - follow these instructions - http://youtu.be/KtXwzxNetNE

As per the pole's instruction guide it is worth taking the pole apart and checking and renewing the tape every 3 months or so to maintain the smooth working of the pole.

I had this last month you must not pull the section apart, but use a twist slight pull action.

Thanks shammy will try that! Was thinking of puting some wv40 down the pole to lubricate it!
Once you've pulled it apart is it just a simple job of re tapeing it?
Could do with Popeye here to help me pull it apart , unfortunately I've only got olive  ;)

It may be that you did not get the section outside of the tape hot enough. It may be that you need to get the section so hot that it is hot to the touch.

Then when pulling try twisting the section first not pulling.

on the section that's jammed, undo the clamp completely on the section that's stuck, stand with both feet on the brush stock to hold the pole firmly from moving and twist the jammed section whilst trying to pull it apart, enough brut force will loosen it, I jam mine from time to time and it always comes apart this way.
