« on: February 26, 2014, 03:15:15 pm »
using my spare reel and microbore today.wow!WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!so much lighter and easier to manage than thermobore.ive just ordered the thermobore plus as well which will be even heavier! ::)roll.

its almost like using pole hose.very easy to drag  around and loop together.

i think ill use it through the spring and summer months and keep the thermobore for winter use with hot water now.

Do you find you have to increase the pump speed with 6mm to get the same flow as with 8mm Daz?

Daz here is a suggestion. Why not leave your micro bore on your reel, fit a bypass pipe back into your van tank from your pump outlet side, this way when you knock your flow off at the pole there is very little extra  pressure for your connections and hose to have to handle, your pump runs all the time re-circulating water back into your tank when you are off at the pole. I have mine set up like this. I use standard type connectors and normal microbore without any issues at all. Running this way cost me a total of £93 to convert to hot and I have yet to spring a leak or destroy a hose.
Hope it helps

I have heard of this before and people who dont use flow controllers have a pipe going back into the tank. I cant work out how it works.

Any chance of pics or a break down of whats involved please :)

david so you mean get a split hose going from the pump outlet?one going in the top of the tank and the other in the water inlet on heater?

so your pump runs all the time?but recirculates the water?

it sounds like a good idea mate!can you take some pics and put them up on here when you have time?

many thanks

Its basically running 2 reels off 1 pump but the reel or pipe thats not getting used is just running back into your tank all the time.
The advantage this has with a hot system is NO pressure build up.

You wouldn't need a controller either or a pressure switch.

.......... but you'd probably use more gas, more juice from your battery and wear the pump quicker?

Ah ok so after the pump the hose is split. One way to one reel and one way way to another. The hose that aint getting used just dumps the water back into the tank. Making a loop i guess?

Then when i use my hose reel and turn my tap off. The pump will still pump by divert to the other hose reel and just cycle the water?

So this means no pressure build up ever then?

Could i not just just run a small piece of hose from after the pump back into the tank? Does it have to go through a reel?

The disadvantage of a bypass system is that the higher your pole goes, the slower the flow becomes. This can be a real pain in the ass, I used one for a few years when I first started! When I got a controller I couldn't believe what I'd been missing!
