Hi BDCS

It's good to hear that you are stacked! My post was not to say that anyone was 'going wrong', it was just to get people thinking about their marketing plans should they plan to actively expand this year.

A lot of companies will get a regular stream of new inquiries, but those actively looking to expand may look to run campaigns of many different types to engage those prospects that they would otherwise have no contact with.

My post was to find out what methods people are using or plan to use during 2014, as my business grows I am looking at new services that we can provide to assist companies in the cleaning industry.

I would obviously hope that we could assist in people's marketing plans as this is the reason I set up my business!

This post is to get an idea of what people are currently doing and what they are looking for so that we can expand our services in the right direction that will be helpful to the people on the forum.

For example, I have noticed in other parts of CIU there is a common requirement around leaflets and their design, so I now have a graphic designer on the team and will shortly be providing a design service.

Oh dear, lol. How long ago did you get them done, are they still in date??

I've heard a lot of people talk about handing these out and putting through letterboxes whilst they are out on jobs rather than pay someone to deliver them - you should stick some in the van for tomorrow...  ;D

Hi Chris, thank you for joining the topic!

Email campaigns can be a great way to get your details in front of people as you can pack quite a bit of info into the one email.

The main disadvantage here is that you will only be able to gather a generic email address for the majority of commercial prospects as they don't tend to advertise decision maker's email addresses! Email to the generic addresses will usually end up going to a receptionist - hopefully they will forward this onto the decision maker, but you also risk it going straight into the trash file - at least this was cheaper than posting a leaflet and it going in the bin!  :)

The best way to approach an email campaign is to carry out some research over the phone before hand - if you call these companies and speak to the receptionist there is a good chance of getting an email address for either the decision maker, or second best for the correct department for your service.

Now the info you are sending will go to the correct person/department and be relevant. If they are interested and have a need they will hopefully get back to you. An alternative is to follow up this info through a phone call so that any questions they have can be answered, and hopefully you can convert to a quotation request.

Have you tried email campaigns previously?

I've not got time to ring you - I have a busy day tomorrow. I've got a drain survey first, a blocked drain on a Gypsy camp near Brands Hatch, a very large gutter job to price at Rainham and then I'm going to buy my NEW bike.

I'm going with all the orange sheep - I'm fed up with not having a dealer nearby to get parts and orange gear is widespread. My birthday is 3rd of April if your sending a cake and I'm going away end of April trail riding in the Algarve.
