I was hardly ever out of work as a truck driver until about ten tears ago. But after that time it seemed to get really difficult to get full time, permanent decently paid work. Every driving job i went for seemed to have hundred of other applicants so i started going for factory and warehouse jobs. All i could get was agency work with temporary contracts and no guarantees of work. The pay was minimum wage and i needed "in work" benefits like tax credits and HB just to survive. The last straw for me was turning up for a night shift and being told to go home because there was no work available that night (This was at a huge household name factory) Thats why i started up in window cleaning. I now feel more secure than i ever did in my last 10 years as an employee. I dont know whether you should blame the recession. mass immigration, my age (51 next birthday) etc etc but IMHO it is much more difficult to find work than it used to be.

Well all I can see if I ran this Country if have all the able people on Benefits who can work that are just lazy so & so's I'd have them signing on at 5am then off to clean the streets bloody ponces. Makes me laughter some of these scrounges earn more money on the dole than low pay working people just not right.

+1

Why can't people on benefits clean the council toilets and clean the roads and paths? Empty bins etc.

You should earn your benefits if your able to.
And what would you do with the people already doing that job?

The canal near us is a right mess, 4 foot deep, at least 1 foot of crap. Give em a pair of chest waders and a couple of net bags. About a dozen lazy arses and one ganger, to keep em working. This is work that doesn't get done now the british waterways has been dissolved.

They already tried that with the ever so amazing "work fair" scheme.

What they found was that big companies like tesco etc too the work fair candidates INSTEAD of employing people.
The fact is, doing that costs other people's jobs, it's as simple as that.

I say we stop ALL benefits, and then let the real Hunger Games begin!

i agree.i think they should all do a few days a week working in there local community.litter picking and generally helping out.even 2 or 3 days a week then they will earn their benefits, give them a sense of purpose and get them out of the house using the other few days a week to look for a job.
price higher/work harder!

In theory it sounds good...but organizing and supervising five million people would cost a few quid

try living in the worst town in England ... middlesbrough.

were i live is yarm and its one of the most expensive areas around here and very nice to live, then no more than 5 minutes drive away takes you to Stockton on tees.
When driving around yarm and surrounding villages mid-day you hardly see anyone walking around, if i drive to scruffy towns its like a doley day out! full of ''full time mums'' in their full tracksuits.

I cant express how annoyed i get when i see men who have worked all their lives loose their jobs because of age or lack of work and need to claim JSA.

Then you get lads leaving school never worked, moving into a house paid for by tax payers, claiming JSA, managing to smoke 20 fAgs a day and keep pets.

This country is such a joke, they tax the rich and give 99% to the lazy.

Why 5million

i thought unemployed was between 2-3 million which according
to official figures in december numbers had fallen to 1.25 million
who were 18+ claiming jobseekers.

so if 50% are long term unemployed thats anyone who has been
unemployed for 27 weeks or more thats only just over 600,000
or for arguments sake the real long term unemployed (years)
say take off another 50%,so 300,000 shouldnt be so hard to organize.

If you want to save real money why not get rid of working tax credit
child tax credit that is given to millions of people who are in poorly
paid jobs which we have to subsidise by us because no one forces employers
to pay decent wages.
.
Funny how we point the finger at the bottom, maybe we would be better
pointing fingers at the top where all the real bottom feeders and skim
off the top oddbods are.
They also are a small section of society but hold most of the wealth
and are not inclined to share and are extremely succesful at getting
the vast majority fighting over the leftovers

Just a thought :)

Well said Garry.
But there are at least 5 million unemployed, the government has crafty ways of making the figures seem lower.
Example if you are long term sick then your not classed as unemployed but might not have worked for years.
Also there are a lot of people underemployed 10 hours or less a week, these also don't count on the list but are
still getting benefits.

It's so a child doesn't have to be brought up in poverty.  It's not that complicated.

Maybe if you stopped using a random word generator to formulate your posts with, you'd increase your room temperature IQ level to the point where you would be able to answer these simple questions yourself.

its complete crap how it works, ive gt a mate, well hes more an associate, who is diabetic, he works with his dad cash in hand, long 12 hour days, no problems,

if you ask him why he don't work, that's when his ''symptoms'' come into play. he gets ''pains in his legs'' hmmmmmm wasn't you working with your dad all week last week for cash building walls? lmfao

I think the bigger problem really is the government, they are the ones calling the shots and letting pr''cks like this get away with it.

thing that really does my head in, is when he goes onabout getting his license, soon as he gets his license, he can go to a showroom and pick a BRAND new car up, free service, insurance, tax, tyres, and a free upgrade car every 3 years, £200 of his benefits will get taken ever month that pays for all this

I think WTF ive just had to sell my crappy astra cause I cant afford to keep a car and a van on insurance wise ( im a young driver)

Then theres this guy who is on benefits, and is guna be driving round in a brand new Volvo or bmw

takes the mick
