I've been asked to quote to clean some tanks. I've been told its just a rinse down/flush out but have never done any tanks before. The company that normally does it uses a "Fury Ball" apparently. Like a spinning ball nozzle that they just lower into the tank slowly.

I have done some other cleaning work for the company who own the tanks, and they want a price from me so they can just have one company doing all the cleaning throughout the site.

Has anyone ever done any tank cleaning? What is the best rotating head to use? The only access to the tank is through a 12"(ish) hole in the top.

Have you ever used one Rob? Most of the ones ive seen need to be fixed. I need one i can lower into the top of the tank on the end of a hose. Also need one that wont spray up as the lid needs to be open.

I know they use them on Tarmac sites, for the concrete silos that go out and come back all dried up inside.

Never used one but I would guess they are weighted mate

Yeah i figured they would be weighted, just d9nt know if it would whip the hose/nozzle around just hanging on the end of a hose.

They must be able to handle it because there is no other way of getting into those tanks, other than through the outlet. Speak to them tomorrow mate

Nice one Rob. But all those nozzles were fixed on a pole. I just cant help thinking that the force of the nozzles will move the hose round. It would have to be perfectly balanced to stay still.

Mosmatic rotary head TYR-2S or TYR-3S have rear facing jets and as such pull themselves down, it would be better to have them on a 3/8 tube depending on tank size. Remember ever action has an equal and opposite reaction - they may wind up the hose around themself and as such comes your way quickly. It all depends on what your removing and how much you want to spend.

Dual pumps have pictures but alternative sources are cheaper. They also do item 8185000 which may also be less expensive.

I looked into this Carl & Matt because you can get an attachment for the Farrow system. Now that looks like a meaty bit of kit!

Sorry that was wrong it was a drain jetting attachment, much the same thing though. Possibly easier to control in a tank cleaning environment because of the size of the air hose.

I think you need to know what you are trying to remove first. Light oil,fruit juice, set concrete.....
Size ,length ,width. How many is there to do? On what basis's weekly, monthly?

Alcohol spirit and flavouring. Tanks are about 15 to 20m deep.

I looked at the mosmatic heads, i really need on that has 360 degree or atleast 300 degree so when i drop it in it cleans ab9ve itself if that makes sense. Plus, i dont want it spraying out the top opening while im feeding it down. Also, i assumed that cause they were swivels it woukdnt wrap or twist the hose.

Mosmatic do two one at 90 degrees and slightly less, they also do a manhole cleaner which is similar. You won't get wet - as soon as it gets below the aperature it sprays the vessel. What size are the tanks - how deep ? You may be able to use a swivel and a turbo

Tanks are deep. Will have to be on the end of a hose. See above post and link. Was thinking one of those?

I really need to see how to mosmatic ones work, i thought they were only for ducting etc.

Contact the companies and tell them you want to see the gear in action and tell them what you want to do and what would they suggest is best  for that situation. Get them on site, clean the tank in question and buy the gear with the money they earned you
