rough cost to clean shop awning?
« on: January 25, 2014, 05:40:43 pm »
hi

i've got someone who wants me to clean their shops canvas awning, it's about 12' wide and seems to be just covered in traffic dirt. i've never done one before so have no idea how long it will take. Anyone got any idea what the going rate is for something like this?

i'm a bit dubious of using chemicals so i was going to use hot wfp, will that be sufficient?

Are they fabric or plastic coated or rigid type?

Agro job.
I couldn't shift anything without the chemical.
Ask to try a test patch before you commit and charge twice what you think it'd cost.

Personally wouldn't touch it tried some domestic ones at it was a nightmare, try the general cleaning section for an idea on chems etc..

I'm pretty sure to do a decent job you'd need to steam clean them or remove them off site - the dirt really gets ground into the fabric whatever way you go don't skimp on the price

Agreed, plastic signs are one thing. Fabric is a whole different ball game.

Get the wrong chemical and you will take the colour out the fabric.

Tread very very carefully.

Try the carpet cleaning side of things... there are some excellent chems available, but you would need to extract as well... fine if you have a gutter vac ish...  ;D ;D

You can do it with hot, soapy water with littler risk of damage. You start at the bottom and work up to avoid staining and then rinse thoroughly. Should do it on a Sunday if poss.
