Puzzi 100 or Rug Doctor ?Which is best?
« on: January 25, 2014, 09:09:29 am »
I need to rent a carpet cleaner for an office floor, as it needs to be done cheaply, and wondered which one of the below is considered best, or is there another brand that can be rented that is okay.  The carpet is only a few years old,  therefore doing it myself should be fine, although there is a large stain in one area, but I have heard you can get spot remover which may do the trick?  I know there's nothing like a professional clean, but needs must, it needs to be hired on this occasion.

Which is best?

Puzzi 100
or
Rug Doctor

Thanks

I am sure that the last thing you want are condescending and facetious remarks or a lecture on DIY carpet cleaning.

In answer to your question, I would go for the puzzi purely because you can control the water better, you are more in control of the spray and can move the wand about easier than the bulk of the rug doctor, and should leave the carpet drier than if you use the rug doctor.

That said.............................................

Everyday this forum slips further from God.  :'(

Bucket of water, some fairy liquid and a stiff brush should do it. Remember to really soak the carpet right through to the backing. For the stains try bleach mixed half and half with water.

To help with drying times I would reccommend brushing in some table salt as it is absorbent.

Deb find out how much a professional would do the job for you(it might be less than expected) as you will spend a lot of time and effort picking it up/doing the job/dropping it off etc and he is likely to remove the stain effectively not make a mess of it.If you do rent go for the puzzi and use extra dry strokes to finish. This is a taxable expense for an office so why do it yourself.Regards Alan

As Alan says you would be better off getting it professionally cleaned. It may cost slightly more than hiring the machine but the results will be far superior and the carpet will stay cleaner a lot longer as the products they use are much better than whst are supplied with hire machines. Commercial carpets contain a lot of dirt and once you start spraying fluid on from the machine that dirt turns to dirty water which then has to be sucked back out. The machines you mention are very low powered so will leave a lot of the dirt behind which when the carpet dry is left on the surface. You WILL be disapointed and probably end up paying someone to do it properly after all. Save yourself the grief.
If youlet people know where you are I'm sure a local cleaner on here would be happy to give you a quote. There again you may just be a wind up merchant

Look around at janitorial supply shops they usually have a more professional machine that they use for jobs, you could also pick their brains on what to use etc coffee stains don't usually come out with pre spray as it's the opposite side of the cleaning spectrum.
