I have a spare gardiner pole that I am trying to refurb as a spare,the clamps on it are the ones with a screw to tighten clamp,and a lever to opencast clamp.
The top two sections of pole are spinning,the clamps are tightened as much as they can be.
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can rectify or shall I bin it.

New clamp upgrades will sort it out if you have an SLX also get some PTFE spray of Gardiners to build up a couple of layers of protection .

Or you could use the Araldite method to build up a layer over worn area . Mike

Really good video of how to use laquer but i found in the past that it would chip and overtime and it became ineffective more so when working in light rain when sections become wet the pole sections would still slip because of the shiny finish the laquer gives .

The benefit for me with PTFE spray it leaves a light matt finish and works for me much better . Mike

hi watched that a while ago,I put lacquer on the pole and it workerd a treat but only for a few weeks,hence pole was made redundant.
When putting lacquer on pole I put several coats do you fell I need to build it up with more coats

Easy, if it's only a spare pole - saw off the worn areas and fit some new clamps and clamp bodies from Gardiners unless you can knock the old ones off and re-use.

Depends on how worn the pole is, you are looking at a microthin layer of clear paint. it aint gonna replace 2/3mm of wear lol

To give you some idea i re do my extreme pole about 4 times a year now. Its so addictive. its like permantley using a new pole i bloody love it.

So i am never wearing away carbon its just clear protection.

You could build sections up, cut off end, fit new clamps, bolts, nuts, lacquer

If you have slipping pole in wet conditions then clamps are not set right, never get slipping sections and i have been using lacquered poles for over 3 years now
