having employees is like having small children so there are 2 ways of dealing with this

MODERN WAY ... sit him down and say "now little Johhny how do you think your actions have upset Justin"

or

OLD FASHIONED WAY ... give him a clip around the ear and send him to bed ( to home ) early with no supper (wages)

 ;)

I prefer the latter but remember to leave no visable marks  ;) ;)

Explain to him this is a job, he is lucky to have one. It's not school, nit a place for fun and if he can't understand that he has got to go. Simple.

have a meeting with him.  document it.  explain what you expect of him.  ask if he is able to do that.  explain the consequences of him not changing his ways.  set a review date.  get him to sign to agree with it.

if it was me, i would probably proceed this with a formal written warning for his misconduct.  slamming a door on another employees hand could have put him off work/in hospital/loss of employees earnings/loss of business earnings.

Good advice from Richard - have a meeting, document it, set a further review date to ensure situation has changed.
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

family members said i should watch what i say /   lighten up  /  we were all young once

as it happens he didnt mess about today, probably because it was freeezing  cold .

iv decided to have a word in his ear tmoro , explain that he will be sacked on the spot if he  carries on  messing about  . i will also tell him i value his  good work  effort  so its not all bad news

For future reference a carefully worded contract of employment covering 'messing about on the job' will prevent any awkwardness.  No 'how should I deal' - simple: Breach of contractual conditions, written warning.  Further breach - sack.

Your going soft, where's the weed killer on the grass spelling out a very bad word?
