Hi every one, i would like to hear what other people think about a little problem i have. We did a domestic clean for a landlord, the bathroom grout was in a realy bad state, we tried verious solutions to try to improve the grout incl grout cleaner,, however the customer suggested we use bleach when i explained that we do not use bleach for a number of reasons, ie poss damage to clothing, carpets, furnishings etc if spilt,, this customer can not understand that the girls are not to use bleach and states that ALL cleaning companies use it. does any one else on here feel the same as me about the poss problems that can be caused with bleach      Hope to hear from you   thank you Malcolm

I use it only for mould, but don't let my staff use it, unless they are wearing ppe and I'm with them

I use bleach for various jobs because it has various very good uses but mainly outside with possibly the exception being mould as already mentioned. Some posters on here will get on their PC high horse but you are with very good reason for not allowing staff to use it. I think you need to seek better products for grout cleaning and perhaps look towards an epoxy or similar - experts will be here soon or search the hard floor section for recent posts on this subject. When I did my crime scene course my missus booked me into a B&B - the bathroom had been cleaned with bleach and I ended up with pink soles to my black socks - this P ' d me off until I realised I had walked from the bathroom to the bed over black carpet and you could see footprints in the carpet 
bleach has its place but can be dodgy for several reasons.
You need to state what the soiling is in the grout and what have you tried

As Carl says you can get epoxy grout colouring kits which are really good and long lasting. Sometimes it is as quick to scrape out the discoloured grout with a special tooland re-grout.

I find 95% of soiled and dirty grout can be successfully cleaned using Aqua Mix Heavy Duty Tile & Grout Cleaner. On the odd occasion when there is heavy mould we use LTP Mouldex. It goes on easily and needs a dwell time but it is superb and has bleach in so the same care needs to be used.
