Template letter for non paying commercial?
« on: January 17, 2014, 04:47:50 pm »
Anyone have one or can give me a few pointers as to what to put in?
Pain in the butt commercial contract, only £80 but always late and to be honest I am sick of having to chase it every 4 weeks. Invoice states 30 days for payment, now at 49 and I have  given the leeway due to Xmas and New Year. Fired off a mail yestrerday and no reply and no answer on telephone. I know they haven,t gone bust as I know people who actually work for them.

Regards as always - Paul.

Hi Paul
My experience with commercials {which is not extensive} is that it doen't matter what your terms are, they will pay you on their terms.
I ditched some of my smaller once because they took the you know what. But I accept the delay in payment on my property management customers becuase it is part of their model. I did drop one though who paid six months in arrears. It was just too much risk if they went bump.
I would put up with it if the price is ok and you know you will get paid...................eventually.

Have you tried phoning them first?  I was in a job where I had to pay bills for an infantry unit, and certain small ones, like the cobblers (who serviced the boots for the band), I used to sit on.  Not because I didn't want to pay them, just I had other priorities and it didn't seem important to me.

But one day the cobbler phoned me (he must've gotten my number from one of the band members), we had a chat, and all future payments I paid on time.

Just give them a bell and be polite and explain to them how your cash flow is important to you.

First of what do mean by you fired of a mail , If you mean email and you just sent it to customer services for instance they will have passed the info on verbally to the right person and no doubt they forgot all about it .

I am lucky in that the commercial custys i have , I deal with and have email addresses of the people who deal with the invoices whether it be manager or head of finance and if they are late a quick email sorts payment the same day .

You need to phone and speak to finance department and politely explain your T&C's with regards to overdue payments . Mike

Thanks for the info guys-much appreciated.
When I say I fired off an e-mail I should have said I sent  a polite e-mail to the company administrator/secretary a week ago who replied and stated that she had contacted the finance department and was waiting for a reply. I have given it a further seven days and tried to ring today but only met a voicemail. I then sent a further e-mail about three o clock today but no reply as yet, but it is Friday so to be expected. I guess I am just a bot peed off with the same rigmarole every time we clean them.

Paul.
