if a customer asks me to do them a favour and it don't take to long I will do it as I don't charge for it, yesterday an old boy ask me to dip his heating oil tank to check the level as he can't use a ladder these days and today another old boy who had his arm in a sling after a recent fall asked if I would go onto his flat roof to lag a pipe, I have previously changed a bulb in a security light, get toys out of gutters etc

anyone else get asked to do these favours

Yes, and I pretty much always do them.  Theyre normally asked for by older people and Im convinced that one day with a bit of luck I might be old too so Ill be asking the favours.

Yup, I do too. I have a customer (settled Irish Traveller) who asks me to do her downstairs bay windows, plus rear patio doors and lounge windows. I don't charge her, but she always gives me a mug of tea, sandwich, hot sausage roll and choccy biscuits.

Yeah I do it all the time.

I usually find that after you've helped out a customer they become quite loyal to you. It's well worth the few minutes any little jobs take.

Rarely, ball out of gutter etc. I get my MOD custies to get me bacon, pies and Aunt bessie's yorkshire puddings from the NAAFI though!!!  

Oh and 1610 tea bags from Tesco when they're going back to UK. Nearly run out now though

Once, i was standing chatting to a customer after doing the windows, she spots something behind me and screams!. I turned round to see her cat with a young rabbit in its mouth (still alive), she shouts "do something", so i start chasing the cat, which, after a short distance, drops the rabbit. The rabbit goes off in one direction, the cat is obviously very keen to go after it again, so i am having to try to catch the rabbit, but fend off the cat at the same time!. I eventually managed to catch the rabbit, which seemed shaken, but unhurt, and dropped it off in a field a mile along the road!.

Another time, after doing the windows, i knocked on the door to collect. The old, and very frail woman who lived there, came to the door, and while chatting, she mentioned that she had dropped her dinner on the floor, but wasn't able to get down and clear it up. Said her son would come by after work to clean up the mess, but this was dinner time, so i went in and cleared it up for her. She told me just to leave it, but it didn't take long and she was very grateful (even tried to pay me extra but i wouldn't take it)!.

i help some of my older customers if i see them struggling with the shopping bags.i also changed a customers toilet seat a few months ago.

occasionally ill get my ladders off to unblock or mend a gutter but i expect a nice cup of coffee in return!

i always help the older people with health problems but young fit customers NO!they can borrow my ladders if they want or i charge them if they give it the "oh can you just give the conny roof a quick going over with that brush thingie?"

I did twice same customer ,first time she was locked out,I got ladder got in through bathroom window ,looked through undies drawer (joking) then opened front door,second time her car wouldn't start I sorted it and go her on her way,two cleans later,she asked me.
