Breakdown cover...
« on: January 13, 2014, 01:45:07 pm »
...talk to me?  ;D

Just been on the blower to my van insurance as its up for renewal and they offererd me breakdown cover, about £80 a year. I was just about to accept then thought better off it as they use 'green flag'.

I think id must rather be with AA or RAC.

Opinions and views please crew!

 ;D

What a s**ty day aswell, got about £80 done now its hammering it down  ;)

I've got my van insurance with Direct Choice and AA cover costs about £5 a month extra...

When I've broken down in the past, the AA have sent Green Flag to my rescue because they were too busy  ??? ::)roll

AA just quoted me £109 for me to be covered in any vehicle...

Sounds decent?

Sounds OK to me James. Go for it. I pay about the same over here for the Gurmun AA. Used them about 3 or 4 times in 11 years, but it's well worth it IMO. Don't know if it's the same over in UK, but at most garages, when you show your AA card, you get 1 or 2 pence a liter off your fuel.

I'm with the RAC about £300 a year 5 people. Had to upgrade to small van cover as the usual cover is for cars, its in the small print.

I use the natwest too. £12 a month gets me:-

Breakdown cover with Greenflag
Annual Travel insurance for the family
Mobile phone insurance for me + the mrs
£100k accidental death cover
+ some other benefits.

I have had to use Greenflag twice now, excellent service both times.

I parted company with RAC because they insisted I take out some sort of business breakdown cover with a massive price hike rather than the ordinary cover that most people have.
Im with AA now.

The reason i didnt opt for green flag is because they said that the local recovery company would get called out to me if i broke down and they would try to fix the problem at the road side using THEIR parts, which would prob cost a fortune.

I know AA would use their parts aswell, but surely the local garages parts would be more expensive than AA?

Maybe not i dunno

RAC changed a fan belt on a Citroen Berlingo I had and charged me £30.
The belt probably only cost a tenner.

Green flag replaced some fuses and a snapped handbrake cable, both free of charge. I'm not sure whether that is standard though?
