Right, I've tried Unger hard, Unger soft, Pulex regular, Wagtail standard and now Facelift red. They all start off good and within a very short time all end up the same - they won't clear the moisture from the glass. The longer the channel the worse it is. Flipping the rubber makes no difference, changing solution doesn't help (GG4 normally). Changing pressure doesn't help, changing solution strength does help a little - when it's weak it seems to work better but then the rubber squeeks. I've tried removing the channel clips I've tried dog earing and no dog earing. Now the trad stuff doesn't get used much only for inside work - so ... does rubber go off?

What's causing it?

I notice my windscreen wipers although new do the same thing on my van screen. Is it something you live with or is there a cause?

make sure your channel is straight.

i use  ettore soft and pulex soft all year , both are good but sometimes you will get some duff ones  i just change  the rubber if i dont feel happy with it .also check your channel , by that i mean look down the lenth of it , it may be out of line . if it is i grab each side of the channel and gently tap the middle over my knee till it gently curves inwards if that makes any sense  

i have never bothered dog earing either

Nope. what's that?
Funny thing is my ten inch squeegees (wagtail and Unger seem to work fairly well. My bigger ones less so. It happens the whole length of the rubber. I played around today - saturating the glass and using less but the results were still crap.

I give up - Printing was easier than this.

GG3/4 is the worst offender for this- basically, my opinion is that the solution is too "thin" if that makes sense. I used to add GG3 to Squeegee off but have stopped in winter now for this reason. A test is to use fairy (damn horrible stuff I know) but it makes for a "thicker" solution which doesn't escape under the rubber edge of the blade like GG does.

Also, a new rubber can need a little "breaking in" sometimes- especially in winter I find.

Interesting, that's almost what it is. Sometimes it evaporates and doesn't look too bad but on a sunny day it's a mare.
Doesn't foam either unless using too much which then leaves milky residue.

I was having trouble to before xmas with solution not being squeeged off.
I went to the window clean centre and brought some new unger soft rubbers and it has sorted it.
I think the rubbers go off in the cold, as like you, i dont use the squeege that often, so i dont change the rubbers that frequently.
Btw i use GG3 & pure to.

Have you tried using really hot water at letting your rubber warm through before starting?
Is your blade the right size for your bucket?
So the whole length of it submerged, warming through...

Haven't tried that. The squeegees are in my van all the time then I bring them into the property to clean the insides - would the temperature change make a difference? First window I tried in the hallway and the rubber  didn't touch it.

Try ecover washing up liquid found this gives good glide for squeegee also use SYR rubber found this to be excellent.

I have been working all day today on a large internal office block, I used unger hard  for my 18 inch and 12 inch, all pre cut.
I have switched back to trade secret from 20:20 Glass Cleaning Detergent. All ok for us today Dave

Warm them up in hot water first.
Try it on Monday.

hi dave i use unger soft all year round.gg3 and squeegee off in my bucket.never have a problem.

are you sure your channels are not bent? check em!
