Was it hard work finding a job? This is what worries me.

You've got permanent residency so it should be ok finding work.
If your skilled (window cleaning doesn't count ) your laughing.
I wouldn't sell up over here though cos you might not like it.
It's a fantastic country and I loved my time there but it's not all milk and honey.
I'd say the majority of poms who go over have either seriously considered coming home or have actually done it.

Not planning on selling anything here my dads started w/c so
Hopefully he will look after the windows for me and we will let the
House out, so if it's not for us we can come back.
I do landscaping hard and soft, fencing, mono blocking, decking ect.
Also been known to clean a window or two but to be honest will do anything.
Going on the wife's visa (hairdressing).

There's a lot more call for landscaping over there than here.
The firm I worked for were always busy.
I didn't sell up either just rented the house out.
I found oz much easier to get work than here.
Where are you going to live?

Going to carramar in April, but we will go where either me or wife
can get a job to keep us and take it from there.
Any suggestion for good areas?

Strangely enough that's where we looked at first for a villa but
ended up with villa in carramar,  we will be checking that area out though.

When her  uncle went his Mrs etc found Iit really easy there was loads of unskilled jobs but he had big problems he was a plumber / fitter and they did not recognise his qualifications so his been back to college to retrain and get what was needed for the last 2 years
luckily they had enough cash in the bank to survive

You would be stitched in Sydney... not cheap lol

I booked the Shang Ri La looking over the Opera house... cost a fortune

If you don't have kids I'd rent for a bit and live somewhere you can't afford to buy.
I used to live in Bondi with a view of the beach.
Loved the eastern suburbs beach scene.
Perth is nice but it wouldn't be where I'd live its a bit too isolated for me.
If I were to settle I'd look at somewhere near Byron Bay or more likely Newcastle in NSW.
Houses prices aren't as bad near Newcastle and there is work.
The beaches are fantastic there, the wine region is on the doorstep, Sydney is a couple of hours south.
Lots of forest and hills to get lost in.

It's amazing how many people we know or have met who have gone or been.

Sounds amazing but 2kids 6/8 think the isolation might suit us

I have just spent 3 weeks in Perth on holiday.  Its hot, and I grew up in south Africa.  I would think once you get used to the heat it would be ok to work in.  Its a beautiful city, and so relaxed.

Window cleaning is done differently there,  its once or twice a year so you need more residential,  but you charge more. 

I am waiting for my visa (4 years waiting...)  but once I get it I am going to send the family down there and sell up and follow a few months later.
