Ive done some of this work Mick, however, like you I was only dipping my toe in so to speak to see how it worked out.

One thing is that it is messy work, big jobs need 2 people IMHO, so you need to price it right depending on how dirty the driveway is, if its covered in weeds etc.

I also think you have to go out and do a lot of canvassing for this type of work to get enough work to justify buying the equipment. There are a lot of people who are going round canvassing all over the place, travelling a fair distance to get the work.

If you can get enough work it does pay good money, I got a few window jobs off the back of it as well. A good starting point is your existing customers (if they have driveway that need cleaning) you will get referrals from there, it will also give you an idea of whether you fancy it before you dive in with some expensive equipment.

Cheers

Steve

Are customers regular??ie every 6 months or is it an as and when basis???

Mick don't bother, it's too hard to get the work. I invested 30k into that side of the business and only done a few jobs. If you wanna buy some stuff then all my equipment is like new.

Hi Mick, you'd be better off asking in the general cleaning section of this forum, thats where all the power washing guys seem to post. They seem good lads who know what they're doing, i'm sure they'll advise you best on what sort of machine you need and how to attract buisness.

30k??

A very good pressure washer AND all the extras will cost less than £2k - maybe an extra £500 for top of the line waterproof workwear.

If you target your existing customer base and offer it as an addon "rainy day" job to keep earnings consistent when the weather is too bad to do windows,.. you just can't go wrong.

My setup paid for itself within 3 weeks of purchase - and I must say there's a LOT more job satisfaction in pressure washing, the dirtier the job the better as you leave the house totally transformed.

To be fair 30k is to set up a business ( which I believe ) but I believe
the op was for an add on to existing business which I would expect
to be 2/3k there's a big difference.
