when i started in the business 6 months ago i was knocking on doors and happen to walk round some bushes into a drive and there was a windie there lol, felt quite awqward but the guy was top!
he gave me loads of advice and said the gloden rule was not to undercut which i'd never do anyway but he said a few words that made total sense, if we all start putting silly prices in we're gonna ruin it for ourselves and ive seen it in other trades like taxi driving.
years ago you used to be able to make a mint but with more drivers and companies driving the prices down it wasnt worth doing anymore for me!

The guys website is impressive but doesn't say which town he's based just that he's based in West Midlands! This would concern me!

The problem with taxi driving isn't just undercutting its too many drivers competing for
too little work.
More people going into it and less people using their services.
Maybe the same is happening in this window cleaners area, customers with less money to spend
and more choice.
I just wonder what any of us would do if we started to lose large amounts of work to undercutting.
Throw in the towel or drop prices to compete.
I'm not saying this is the reason but who knows.

This may not be a bad thing actually.  Prices in Birmingham are not the highest by any stretch of the imagination.  There's a lot of poverty stricken areas as well as the rich.  Plus there's a lot of competition.  This may be a loss leader in order to get repeat custom.  Groupon, KGB and others can be good business if they are thought out carefully.  I don't know who he is, but if this guy has done his math, it may work out handsomely for him.
