New competition? New Start ups?
« on: January 02, 2014, 01:12:15 am »
It's that time of the year again where we all see some new start ups. A few of them make it and stick it out and grow, like many of us still on here.
Who have you discovered lately and where?

Here's some guys I'm not worried about over in Trafford.  :-\  They like to take text from our site too.

Why worry about it ? Obviously protect your website.. as you said most fail when the weather starts to turn  ;).

Why not try the opposite tact, make contact offer your services...
Last yr we contacted a few 'local' companies, known about them for yrs never spoke to them in the past, one job we picked up was £2,500 dom roof clean they received commision, we have sent them to date  four sealing jobs - cost us nothing but had a nice return  :)

I have had a few start up last year.. seen one in his van just after Christmas. I always give them a wave, throws them off  ;D

One guy lives down the road from me, everytime i drive past his house, no matter what time of the day, his van is parked outside. Feel a bit sorry for him to be honest. Seem to get quite a few driveway cleaning companies here in Glasgow. The last year has been mostly commercial, which im not complaining about, but would be nice to get some domestic jobs in for some cashflow.

I love new start ups the more they advertise the busier I get!

2 new ones had a go last year think they both gave up. And there is one who just launders money through his "jetwash business"

My new business is starting soon - blastaway (wirral) ltd   ;D

looks like they write there own testimonals as well,   they are all to similar.    not many customers refer to you by your first name.

ive got two jobs lined up,   cleaning and sealing.      quotes to be given.       been put off abit by lads not wanting to do sealing.      i know its too early yet for sealing.       surelly you can give them the guarantee as says on your sealer manufacturer.     as long as its completelly dry and no cold due,     there still seems people are stopping sealling.

should i be concerned regarding offering sealling.     As my main income is from winow cleaning    i still keep spare time for pressure washing simply because it takes you away from that side of work.  i also like getting SPLATTERED in the face with dirt from my TURBO.   AAAWWWEEESSSOOOMMMEEE.       ITS A MAN THING.   the noise and the power in your controll.

They come & they go, we have had quite few "local" companies comes up and some are still going, but they just work local. If I did 6 job's a year say 5 miles from base I'd be overworked!! our net is spread further a field.

As Mike stated sometimes worth working with them, we pass on enquires we cant handle to a couple of companies close to us, if the job comes off, then everybody wins, we invoice a fee for the completed work so works both ways. Trust is important in this scenario.
We have worked with some people from here (CIU) some straight as a dye, one reneged on the agreement  :( but more fool them as I won't put there name forward again.

There is so much work out there no one person could handle it, believe me I know it is true.

You lot must have woken up one morning and found your selve the proud owner of a well established company :)

It's like the bumper sticker you see on driving school cars.... 'Please be kind you were a learner once'

Today's new starters are the experienced, helpful CIU members of the future ;) ;)

But damn those bustards for trying to earn a living, they should stick to living like parasites on benefits instead of trying to make a future for themselves
